For the class of 2022, it’s an interesting mixture for the upcoming middles moving into high school varsity rosters. Some players, mostly from smaller schools, were dumped into the deep end of the competition and were forced to get better and play against seniors. Others had JV and sophomore programs to grow and develop. Club teams gave them all the chance to play against their own age as they are measured with their peers. Here are some middle blocking monsters to watch that are coming off of club season and moving into their junior season.
Maddie Moan Maddie Moan 6'0" | MB Woodstock | 2022 State IL , 2022, 6’0, MH, Woodstock, Sky High
Maddie has a lot of potential, playing on a team with players recognized at the state level. Don’t be fooled, her quick feet and intense play at the net is strengthening Woodstock’s chances of playing further into the state tournament. She is a mainstay in the Sky High 16s offensive attack.

Ivy Schoditsch, 2022, MH, Nazareth Academy, Adversity
Nazareth had to deal with injuries in 2019. Look for Ivy to see some quality playing time as she will be needed to play a blocking defense in the middle as the team will focus mostly on the pins for their offense. It’s a great position for Ivy to grow as a player.
Jenna Majchrzak, 2022, 5’8, MH, Downers Grove South, Adversity
Jenna looks to be a key starter as a junior for DGS. The high school program has a decent base to build upon in 2020. Playing for Adversity allows Jenna to learn and excel in a solid program getting experience against great players.
Tijana Kostic, 2022, 6’1, MH/RS, Lyons Township, First Alliance
At 6’1, It’s hard to ignore Tijana’s presence on the court. She plays competitively at the net for her age. Definitely a force to be reckoned with in 2020.
Mya Burdick, 2022, 5’10, MH, Walworth, Fusion Elite
Mya played up on the varsity team at Walworth for most of the 2019 season, playing 82 sets. Although not the main attack option, stepped away with 28 blocks on the season. During the club season, she is one of the mainstays for the Fusion 16 Elite team.
Chloe Clayton, 2022, MH, Normal University (UHigh), Illini Elite
Playing in her fair share of varsity matches for UHIGH, expect Chloe to be a player called upon to score points in her upcoming high school season. For Illini Elite , she blocks both solo and ate the pins well as she has great footwork for a middle. In Transition, she always gets into position to be a focal point of the play.
