Grimm’s skills are a bit unassuming largely because she has a simple style of execution. At 5’9, she can elevate well and hammer the ball with arm work that gets the ball on the defense fast at the top of her jump. She also uses great court vision to make adjustments well to score off speed. In watching her pass and play defense, these are areas where the simplicity benefits her very well. She has good patience and uses her long read to create the right reaction and platform work to develop great angles and put her team in system offensively. She can also frustrate hitters defensively at the net as she adds good quickness to her elevation when blocking to get up and over fast. Her well-rounded skills will be fun to watch this next season as she closes out her high school career for Eastview.

An all-conference selection for St. Louis Park, she and her team had a remarkable season in 2019 that included a trip to the class 3A state tournament. They are poised to repeat that performance with some key elements set to return including Howell as the offensive leader. She has an aggressive mindset on the left pin that involves good footwork and the right adjustments in her approach patterns to get her feet to the ball so she can swing on balance. She can generate good pace and score through torque and movement down the line, wrist away, or with power to challenge the block.

Johnson is long and athletic as a six-rotation pin. She has terrific reach at the peak of her jump that creates a high contact point. Her arm work also generates good power and she has shown good control to move the ball around through the opponent’s court for kills. Her length is a big bonus on the defensive side as she can cover a lot of court in the back row while also creating good angles. Her lift off the court also helps her to put up a big block at either pin. Look for her to receive a good portion of the offensive work for Rogers this next fall season.

Reilly has one of the purest arm swings in this class and can generate heat with the best of them. She develops great momentum in her approach work and gets her feet to the ball so she can maximize her elevation with great balance in the air. She is equally effective from a variety of attack points and through various tempos. Northfield should once again be in the mix for a high ranking in class 3A and a deep run in the postseason as they have one of the best collections of returning talent in the state. Don’t be surprised if Reilly picks up some accolades along the way.

– 5’10 | OH/RS | HS: New London-Spicer | Club: KEVC 17-2 | Prep Dig #62
Zieske displays a blue collar mentality in that she works hard throughout each point and makes a lot of contributions across a variety of skills. She continues her development as one of the better six-rotation pin attackers in the state as she can serve, pass, dig, and attack with good efficiency and effectiveness. She reads the floor well and creates great angles in her ball control without wasting much movement. Offensively, as she can be equally effective on both pins, she is showing more and more capability to terminate from the left pin through considerable work load. She produces good power, can move the ball around, and is not afraid to challenge the defense at the net or by overpowering the back row. New London-Spicer had a great season in 2019 and Zieske and company should compete very well again in 2020 through their corps of returning veterans.
