If it were not for the coronavirus, this past weekend the CEVA region would have put on their biggest tournament of the season: Regionals. This is the final opportunity for teams to shift in their rankings, and the Portland Expo Center comes alive with hundreds of teams vying for a higher spot than they came in at. The top teams in the region are electrifying to watch and it would have been a great weekend to see the best Oregon volleyball has to offer. The top teams would have been fun to watch, with the potential for many interclub matches adding to the competitiveness of it all.

CEVA froze the rankings based on the last Power League finishes and the top eight teams in the 16s division are outlined below, with a few impact players from each team highlighted.

#1 Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy 15-1

[player_tooltip player_id="91306" first="Sophie" last="Gregoire-Salagean"], 6’0", OH, Newberg High School

Gregoire-Salagean, the #1 2023 recruit, has an impressive outside attack, with the ability to play any position across the court.

[player_tooltip player_id="91311" first="Kennedy" last="Cheung"], 5’2", DS, Westview High School

Cheung is a dynamic defender and her inability to let a ball hit the floor allowed her team to stay in rally after rally.

[player_tooltip player_id="91309" first="Mia" last="Starr"], 5’8", S, Central Catholic High School

Starr ran an impressive offense, consistently putting her teammates in successful positions and kept the opposing teams off balance.

[player_tooltip player_id="91314" first="Naima" last="Foster"], 5’10", MB, Valley Catholic High School

Foster is an athletic middle with an insane vertical which allows her to fly above blockers, placing the ball exactly where she wants it.

#2 Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy 16-1

[player_tooltip player_id="91207" first="Tess" last="Masingale"], 6’3", MB, Jesuit High School

Masingale has a powerful swing, with the ability to run a quick incredibly well, and puts up an impressive block.

[player_tooltip player_id="91205" first="Emily" last="Warmenhoven"], 5’10", OH, West Linn High School

Warmenhoven, the #1 2022 recruit, has a fast arm swing, is not afraid to take swings, and plays all six rotations with finesse.

Mackenzie Berger, 6’1", MB, Gaston High School

Berger combines her 10’2 touch and fast arm swing to create an unstoppable force on both the middle and the right side.

Tyra Schaub is another player worth mentioning.
