Rankings Update: Top Five Available ’21 Setters In Indiana
<p>With the release of the new-and-improved rankings, we break down the best available players for the 2021 by position. First up, the setters. </p>
<p><strong>#27: [player_tooltip player_id="85691" first="Caitlin" last="Murphy"], 5-7, Brownsburg</strong></p>
<p>Fast, athletic, defensive and offensive. Cate is a chameleon who can adjust to what is not only possible for her own team, but can read defenses with ease and get the ball to the kid most likely to score. Even better, she’ll take the onus on herself to score the point. Although some call her undersized, it’s not as if she’s never run a 5-1 before. She did just fine at the Triple Crown in KC a few months ago, thankyouverymuch.</p>
<p><strong>#32: [player_tooltip player_id="85696" first="Paige" last="Conklin"], 5-8, La Porte</strong></p>
<p>Unassuming, gets the job done, and will make those around her better. Her length is deceptive; she’ll slow down a ton of balls on the block that most 5-8 setters can’t. Isn’t that what setters are supposed to do? She also plays at a borderline top-ten school up north that gets their fair share of tough competition. </p>
<p><strong>#36: [player_tooltip player_id="85698" first="Bella" last="Dearinger"], 5-10, Delta</strong></p>
<p>Bella is my favorite on this list of setters. Fast an athletic with a fast tempo set, this Munciana-trained kid can also bomb away as a makeshift right side if you need to run a modified 6-2. My favorite thing about her? The fire! She can and will be the emotional leader of whatever team takes her. The two ladies listed above are quiet and unassuming. Bella is anything but. Hop on her shoulders and let’s ride this train to Wintown.</p>
<p><strong>#49: [player_tooltip player_id="85704" first="Olivia" last="Phillips"], 5-11, Hamilton Southeastern</strong></p>
<p>One of the setters in the 6-2 run by the state 4A runner-up, Olivia is fully capable of running a 5-1 on her own. The tallest on this list, Miss Phillips can get to tight passes that the others on this list simply can’t. Her decision making is exceptional, as well; she always seems to get the ball to the right kid at the right tempo at always the right time.</p>
<p><strong>#78: [player_tooltip player_id="85725" first="Sarah" last="Weglarz"], 5-9, Westfield</strong></p>
<p>A new addition to our top five available setters for this class, Sarah is smooth and makes the team around her better. Westfield plays in the toughest sectional in the state, and rarely makes it out of that sectional, making Sarah’s job that much more important.</p>
