As the high school playoffs continue through the various regional brackets, the Region 4 semifinals are set in Division I. Jackson (23-0) will face Nordonia (23-1), while the state’s top-ranked team, Padua Franciscan (18-0), will take on Riverside (18-6). Here are some athletes to look for when these teams face off in the coming days.

JACKSON POLAR BEARS

Allyson Woolbert - 5’11 | OH | 2021
This squad’s offensive leader, Woolbert has continued to perform well and put up big numbers. She has terminated over 250 kills while attacking at a .329 average. She has veteran experience and a big arm and with good balance of offensive contributions around her she should find space and opportunity to do her thing and help her team take the next step.

Alyson Stanislawski - 5’5 | S | 2021
The senior setter has totaled nearly 700 assists on the season with a 10.1 assist per set average. Her leadership and distribution has been key for this team as they are hitting at .323 collectively at nearly 13 kills per set. She is also among team leaders in total digs and service aces.

NORDONIA KNIGHTS

[player_tooltip player_id="114409" first="Joy" last="Banks"] - 5’10 | OH | 2021
Banks is athletic and has a great arm in the air. With over 400 kills on the season, she is the primary option for the Knights and has been difficult to slow down all season given her .416 attack percentage from the pins. She is the complete package as she leads the team in total digs and is also among leaders in total aces and blocks. She is committed to play at Northern Kentucky next year.

[player_tooltip player_id="114487" first="Mya" last="Sopata"] - 5’10 | OH/MH | 2022
Sopata provides great offensive support for her teammate Banks to form a key tandem for the Knights. She has great lift and elevation off the court and can move the ball around with her arm in the air. Her versatility of attacking range across the net makes her difficult to track. She has nearly 300 kills on the season at a .304 hitting percentage while leading the team in service aces.

PADUA FRANCISCAN BRUINS

[player_tooltip player_id="114440" first="Maria" last="Futey"] - 5’10 | OH | 2021
Futey has been a reliable attacker for the Bruins all season. Receiving the most opportunities in their offense, primarily on the left pin, she is terminating the ball at a .338 percentage at just over three kills per set. She swings high and aggressively when in the air that allows her to challenge the hands in front of her well. Defensively, she contributes nearly nine digs per match.

[player_tooltip player_id="114428" first="Kate" last="Mihacevich"] - 6’0 | RS/OH | 2021
Second on the team in total attempts, Mihacevich is producing nearly three kills per set for the Bruins. She gets her feet to the ball well to allow her to maximize her jump and use her power effectively. The ability for her to score from both pins and the back row keep her involved in the offense often.

RIVERSIDE BEAVERS

[player_tooltip player_id="114417" first="Jen" last="Sivak"] - 6’0 | MH | 2021
The senior middle is the team leader in kills per set at 3.5 while hitting a .372 percentage. She is very active in the front row making herself an available option as much as possible with good quickness and ball identification in her transition work. Her activity and contributions are also noticeable in her defense as she leads the team in blocking as well, which includes nearly 20 solos on the season.

[player_tooltip player_id="114444" first="Maddie" last="Herman"] - 5’5 | S | 2021
Herman may be the most important athlete to this team. She is the floor leader averaging over nine assists per set while also leading the team in total service aces and digs. Perhaps smaller in stature when in the front row, she provides some of the most critical contributions for the Beavers’ effort that also include great veteran energy, leadership, and competitiveness.
