High School Showcase – 6-6A Lewisville Flower Mound Jaguars

Over the next few months I will be rolling out some articles that will recognize teams who have been playing exceptionally well this volleyball season. I will still be doing our regular highlight articles on multiple athletes for exposure, however I wanted to do some special articles on a few teams that we are getting to know quite well with Prep Dig TX. We would like to preview the Lewisville Flower Mound Jaguars Volleyball Team and their hot start to the season.   Lewisville Flower Mound High School is located in the north Texas area and have a population of around 77,000 people. They have been to the playoffs 11 times since 2000. They recently won a state championship in the 2018-2019 season. Two of those players from that team are now seniors and still have the taste of that championship in their mouths and want some more. Last year they reached the Regional Quarterfinals. They are currently undefeated at 7-0 on the young season (3-0 in district) and are welcoming all challengers with smiles on their faces. The Flower Mound Volleyball team is currently ranked as the BEST team in the Nation according to the USA Today Volleyball Rankings. They have two of the top players in the nation that are tearing it up for their offense. We have written about them individually before but here is a refresher on who they are:   [player_tooltip player_id="87393" first="Kaylee" last="Cox"] [2021] 6-1 Outside (HS: Flower Mound/Club: Texas Advantage/ Verbal: Missouri) Kaylee is currently ranked as the 5th best player in the 2021 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. We wrote an article on her earlier in the spring and here is a little from it, “In 2018 Kaylee was named the Dallas Area News All Area Volleyball Player of the Year. She helped her Flower Mound high school team win a state championship. This past year she was named to the Midseason ALL-USA Girls volleyball player of the year candidate. She is no stranger to these accolades and that will continue into her senior season that she is gearing up for. Her and her amazing TAV club team have been one of the teams to beat in the nation every year. She hits the ball with such raw power from her super fast swing. She regularly hits a second tempo from play-sets out of serve receive at an astonishing efficient pace. Her senior season is going to be one for the record books as she looks to keep pace with what she has already accomplished on the court. She will be a star for Missouri in a few years.” She has just been named as a 2020 Max Preps National Player of the Year candidate. There aren’t many that can keep up with her overall volleyball play. She has very few weaknesses but excels on the offensive side of the ball like no other. She is the total package and the Missouri commit has been lighting it up so far this season. Her long arms allow her to hit the ball at such a high point to where it is very difficult to slow it down.   [player_tooltip player_id="87394" first="Angelique" last="Cyr"] [2021] 5-10 Outside (HS: Flower Mound/Club: Texas Advantage/Verbal: Arizona State) Miss Cyr is currently ranked as the 6th best player in the 2021 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. We wrote an article on her earlier in the spring and here is a little from it, “Teaming with the above-mentioned [player_tooltip player_id="87393" first="Kaylee" last="Cox"], this duo has been one of the most dominant outside forces we have seen in a while. While slightly undersized compared to the six-footers the state has at the outside position, this young lady can bang. When you see her approach like any normal 5-10 player, you think you will get a normal nice hard cross court shot like other players her size. Nope! Not even close. This young lady has a CANNON for an arm. She explodes on the ball as if her life depended on it. You would think you are watching some Marvel comic book movie hearing the ball come off of her hand. Arizona State fans will enjoy watching this young lady throttle the ball in a few years. I think her senior season will be a great one and we are looking to see if her and Kaylee can duplicate their previous accomplishments.” As we said, don’t sleep on her height. If you do, you will be sorely mistaken. There is not a spot on the court that this young lady can’t score from. She is extremely polished and is a joy to watch. We can’t wait to see what else she will do for her the rest of her senior season.   [player_tooltip player_id="87458" first="Hailey" last="Hutchings"] [2021] 5-10 Middle (HS: Flower Mound/Club: Instinct VB/ Verbal: Grand Canyon {Beach}) Hailey is ranked as the 77th best player in the 2021 class according to our State Rankings. We recently wrote an article on her and here is a little from it, “She plays for Instinct Volleyball for club and for Flower Mound HS. Hailey is a great leaper who gets off of the ground quickly and with ease. She is extremely versatile and is able to play on the pins and out of the middle. She is even more special as she is a very experienced sand volleyball player. Not many can transition so easily to the sand game but Hailey makes it look easy. It is a totally different game than indoor and Hailey has excelled so much that she is committed to playing her college ball for Grand Canyon’s beach program. She uses her awesome vertical to dominate on the sand. The fact that she is able to play multiple indoor positions is what helps her overall ball control out on the sand. She has every tool necessary to do very well in college.”   We will continue to cover the Jags as they dominate their district on the way to another deep run in the state playoffs. We think they have all of the firepower that they need to do it.
