The two-time defending state champion Hornets are the favorite with this matchup and the title again. The Hornets have only lost to Helias and also gained a split with the Class 5 power. They got to the final four by beating North Pemiscot 25-11, 25-5, 25-3, and Gideon 25-13, 25-21, 25-13. The Hornets go eight deep, with seven of those being seniors. New Haven Shamrocks come in as a big underdog with a losing record. They have lost to Borgia and Hermann twice each. Beat Rich Hill 25-23, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21 and Greenfield 25-12, 25-14, 25-13 to reach the final four.

Vs.

Lesterville High School 24-10-2

Hopefully, it will be a more evenly matched game than the other semifinal. Midway came in with a better record and knocked off last year’s runner up Santa Fe in getting to the Final Four. Midway knocked off Tarkio 22-25, 25-11, 26-24, 25-10, and then Santa Fe 25-23, 25-10, 25-23. Lesterville Bearcats returned to the final four with a 3-0 win over Blue Eye 25-18, 25-11, 25-20. College Heights was next up, and a 3-0 sweep 25-16, 25-17, 25-22 pushed them on to the final four. It should be a battle between the two teams. Midway has rolled through their schedule, having swept 18 opponents. Lesterville has lost ten on the season, but those ten have been to three teams in the final four, six were in the sectionals, and eight of the ten played for their district championships. Midway has senior leadership while Lesterville has youth; Lesterville has two top kill leaders in the state and the top assist leader. Midway has played 13 fewer games, so fatigue is less a factor. Who will handle the big stage better?
