<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">After a strong season in 2019 (33-4) and graduating many key players, coach Skylar Morris wasn’t sure what to expect this season. And wow, have they surprised her!! The Indians made it back to state with wins over Ainsworth (14-9) and O’Neill (19-12) in the sub and Oakland-Craig (22-7) in the finals. </span></p>

This group of girls continues to play as a team and continues to surprise us in multiple ways. They are having fun and making sure to be grateful that we are at this point in our season. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Returning starters for the Indians include sisters </span><b>Kya Scott </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">(2022, 5’7, OH, 4.0 kills/set) and </span><b>[player_tooltip player_id="58813" first="Kailyn" last="Scott"]</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> (2022, 5’5, setter, 9.7 assists/set). Add in </span><b>Kali Staples </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">(2021, 5’7, OH, 2.6 k/s), </span><b>Emma Schall </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">(2021, 6’1, M, 2.1 k/s), and </span><b>Calli White </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">(2022, 5’6, M) in the front row and </span><b>Cami Schweitzer</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> (2021, 5’2, Libero) and </span><b>Emma Taylor </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">(2024, 5’4, DS) in the back row to round out the Indians. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">#7 Broken Bow faces #2 St. Paul (32-0) in the first round on the south court at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln at 2:00. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The competitive spirit will be high in Lincoln this week! But, really, it all comes down to these young ladies being great stewards of the sport and we appreciate them for that. Volleyball proves to be a big part of their life, but read on and you might learn a little more about these athletes. Their ever-thinking minds are amazing! </span></p>

<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">What were your initial thoughts after you won match point in districts?</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Kali Staples - It was surreal and didn’t really sink in for a while.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Emma Schall - wow... we just did that... again.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Kya Scott - I was in shock and couldn’t believe we made it for the second year in a row.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Kali Staples - Our community is very supportive. They pack the stands full at every game</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Emma Schall - starts with a send off the day we leave. then everyone loads up their cars, and heads to Lincoln to cheer us on.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Kya Scott - They give us a huge send off, an escort out of town, and pack our stands.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Kali Staples - My parents, I want my them to be able to watch me compete at state. They have came and supported me at every game.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Emma Schall - my mom and dad, and anyone in our student section</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Kya Scott - Family, they have supported me throughout my high school career.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Kali Staples - To just go out and play, we aren’t playing for the crowd, the coaches, or anything else. We’re playing for ourselves and for the girls on the court next to us. Coach Hunt</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Emma Schall - one of our assistant coaches always reminds us, volleyball is a game of mistakes, it’s not fun when you’re making all the mistakes, so go out play a clean game and have fun</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Kali Staples - Don’t put too much pressure on yourself just have fun and enjoy every moment with your team</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Emma Schall - just enjoy it. all of it. you’re gonna miss the feeling of playing volleyball and playing with your team when it’s over</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Kya Scott - Enjoy the time you have, it goes by really fast.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Kya Scott - I want to give credits to our freshman starter for stepping up because the role needed to be filled, and she filled it well for just being a freshman.</span></p>
