New Haven 11-15-3 4th Place

Natalie Covington, Junior

Against Advance, in the semifinals, Natalie recorded five kills and digs in the 9-25, 9-25, 7-25 loss. In the 3rd place match against Midway, she would add ten kills, nine assists, and nine digs in the 24-26, 15-25, 23-25 loss.

Midway 23-2 3rd Place

Jessie Humbird, Senior

Setter started off the weekend with four kills, 26 assists, and 15 digs in the semifinal loss to Lesterville 10-25, 25-19, 23-25, 22-25. In the 3rd place match against New Haven, she would add seven kills, 34 assists, 16 digs, and two blocks to help Midway beat New Haven 26-24, 25-15, 25-23.

Baylee Russ, Junior

The middle hitter would have 12 kills and 17 digs in the semifinal loss to Lesterville and turn around in the 3rd place match and add nine kills and 27 digs in the win over New Haven.

Lesterville 25-11-2 2nd Place

Gracie Hicks, Sophomore

The 5’6 setter dished would only dish out 45 assists in the semifinal 25-10, 19-25, 25-23, 25-22 victory over Midway and added three kills, four aces, 15 digs, and a solo block to start the tournament. In the championship match in a loss to Advance, she would distribute 29 assists, get two kills, and added six digs in the 13-25, 15-25, 25-18, 8-25 defeat.

Reese Gray, Sophomore

Six rotation outside hitter would hit .233% with 26 kills, nine errors on 73 attempts in the 3-1 semifinal win over Midway. Add in four aces, 15 digs, and one block to start the weekend. In the championship 1-3 defeat to two time defending champs Advance, she would add 16 kills and 19 digs. For the weekend, she would hit .170% with 42 kills.

[player_tooltip player_id="41797" first="Mallory" last="Polk"], Senior

The all-time kill leader at Lesterville with 1574 started off the weekend, hitting .333%. She would contribute to the 3-1 semifinal win with 28 kills, seven errors on 63 attempts, plus one ace and 22 digs. In the championship match, she would add 15 kills, five errors on 67 attempts for a .149%. Toss in another 14 digs for her.

Advance 35-1-2 State Champions

Alandry Below, Junior

Silky smooth setter and can do everything on the court well. Spread out 50 assists in the 3-1 championship win over Lesterville and picked up 13 digs. In the semifinal sweep of New Haven, she would collect 26 assists and 12 digs. Look for this junior setter to be the significant Advance player, looking for a fourth straight state championship next year. Don’t be shocked to see them playing for the title.

[player_tooltip player_id="41758" first="Alyssa" last="Miles"], Senior

Semifinal victory over New Haven, the hammer on the outside would get ten kills, one error on 20 attempts for .400% hitting. Over Lesterville, the hammer would put down 15 kills in the championship, one error on 38 attempts for .368%. Put down the 31 digs for her, and Alyssa is a tremendous player for this Class 1 power. One of my favorite hitters to watch because she came in like a freight train every time.

Meadow Morse, Senior

Here’s another outside hitter that had a great weekend with ten kills and eight digs in the semifinals. Then added 13 kills and eight digs in the championship.

[player_tooltip player_id="41785" first="Nyah" last="Wilson"], Senior

A six rotation middle for the Hornets is all over the court, passing, hitting, blocking, and playing defense. Rare for the middle to pass and play defense, but [player_tooltip player_id="41785" first="Nyah" last="Wilson"] does it better than most libero’s. In the finals, she would hit .488% with 23 kills, three errors on 41 attempts, and get 17 digs and two blocks. In the semifinal win over New Haven, she would hit .588% with 12 kills, two errors on 17 attempts and 15 digs, and three blocks.

MVP

Advance Senior Class

Since they walked onto the court three years ago, all they’ve done is win three state championships. The seniors would hit .408% with 94 kills for the state tournament with 16 errors on 191 attempts. They would win four district championships for their high school career, lost to Valle Catholic 21-25, 19-25 in sectionals their freshman year. Would go 132-12-4 the four years and 105-5-3 the last three while winning those three straight championships. Probably the best senior class ever in Class 1.
