Movers and Shakers in the 2021 Rankings

These players made huge strides their senior season either in stats or leading their team into the postseason and, in turn, pushed forward in the rankings. 63 to 27 - [player_tooltip player_id="58269" first="Lily" last="Novacek"] | 6’1 | MH | Kearney HS | UNK Led her team with 3.1 k/s on .346 hitting. Kearney finished the season 17-12. <hr /> 80 to 28 - Morgan Ramsey | 6’1 | MH | CWC After two previous trips to the state tournament, Chamber/Wheeler Central finished with a Class D2 Runner Up Trophy and a 33-2 record in 2020. With an experienced team behind her, Ramsey led with 439 kills on the season and was named OWH and LJS Class D2 1st Team. <hr /> 100 to 29 - Ray Joens | 6’0 | MH | Elkhorn | Winona University As Elkhorn improved its record from 19-15 in 2019 to 23-10 in 2020, they also made it to the semifinals of the Class B State Tournament. Ray Joens averaged 2.2 k/s on .248 hitting for the Antlers. <hr /> 124 to 30 - [player_tooltip player_id="82626" first="Jaycee" last="Widener"] | 5’9 | OH | Maywood-Hayes Center Widener has been a mainstay on the Wolves team since her freshman season as the team steadily improved each year to finish with a 29-2 record in 2020 and a Class D2 4th place finish. During her senior campaign Widener average 5.5 kills/set on .372 hitting and led her team with 65 blocks and 4.9 digs/set. She was named to the OWH and LJS Class D2 1st Team. <hr /> A NOTE ABOUT RANKINGS Player rankings are a constant work in progress, especially with athletes at the 15s and 16s level. Some players hit their stride at different times and for others, it’s a matter of getting their chance whether it’s high school or club. This is a list that is a resource for schools, it’s fun to see athletes from across the state, and is a great way to connect players with each other as well as coaches throughout the country.
