2022’s Make Big Statements at Tour of Iowa Showcase
The Class of 2022 is navigating their way through the world of recruiting, or I should say – “Virtual World” of recruiting. Many of these athletes have had the majority of their recruiting process done through zoom, BallerTV, and whatever other ways they have been connecting with college coaches. This doesn’t take away from what they have been able to do on the court. At the Tour of Iowa Showcase there were some Class of 2022’s that were just pure athletes who showed that they will be a great addition at the next level.
Really explosive, athletic pin from the Class of 2022 in Morgan Barker Morgan Barker 5'9" | OH Davenport Central | 2022 State IA . Impressive all session pic.twitter.com/Vt5wXFyp5e

Morgan Barker Morgan Barker 5'9" | OH Davenport Central | 2022 State IA – Iowa Select 17 Mizuno
It doesn’t take long to look at the five courts and ask, “Who is that?” when it comes to Morgan Barker Morgan Barker 5'9" | OH Davenport Central | 2022 State IA . Her overall athleticism might have been the best out of anyone there. From her speed, quickness and overall strength, she has the physical attributes that makes her look like the best athlete on any court or field she would take. A six rotation outside hitter for a really talented Iowa Select 17 Mizuno squad, Barker can really swing, but her overall motor and activity make a huge difference for whatever team she may be playing for.
The Capital Kids!
Claire Ammeraal Claire Ammeraal 6'0" | S Madison LaFollette | 2022 State #179 Nation WI , Sienna Roling Sienna Roling 6'1" | OH Sun Prairie | 2022 State WI , and Alia Schlimgen Alia Schlimgen 5'5" | DS/L Sauk Prairie | 2022 State WI
A quick backstory here. For Ammeraal and Roling, they have yet to play a “Real” match since March of 2020. Attending high school in Dane County in the Madison, WI area they athletes have been going to school virtually, no high school sports, and they have been able to play at quite a few prep dig high school events and showcase. Schlimgen is just outside of Dane County and was able to be a key piece to a final four run as a libero at Sauk Prairie High School. They will have their first action this weekend when they had to Detroit for Presidents Day. All of these athletes have improved so much over the past year despite some of the circumstances they have found themselves in. Whether they are in Wisconsin or Iowa, their game speaks for itself.

Gianna Trotter Gianna Trotter 5'11" | OH Fond du Lac | 2022 State WI – Fond du Lac Fusion 17 Purple (WI)
Trotter is another one who has been able to play in Prep Dig Events while her high school moved their high school season to the spring in Wisconsin. Her improvement over the past couple years has been something to note. As a Freshman, she had a big arm and a big jump, but maybe not putting it all quite together to find the court. As a Junior, she has definitely put it together with a booming arm and even adding finesse to her game. As much as she has improved, her ceiling is still incredibly high with a lot of athletic ability.
Sylvia Hasz Sylvia Hasz 6'1" | S Rochelle | 2022 IL – VC United
Hasz brings a physicality to the court as a setter where she is such a presence at the net. She’s 6’1 and so well rounded, she can defend in the back court and net, attack on the right side when needed, and also run the show as an all around setter. She makes others around her better and has the IQ that can give her side of the net a matter of one or two points to make a big difference.
Kierney McDonald Kierney McDonald 6'0" | MB Rockridge (IL) | 2022 State IA – Iowa Select
I may have written Kierney’s name with the liberos, but going back through some video clips she is definitely a middle blocker. This was my first time watching her play live and she is fundamentally sound. She reaches high and can snap down taking it to a deep corner. She’s quick, long, and knows how to close a block as well. McDonald plays for Iowa Select 17 Mizuno and preps at Rockridge High School in Illinois.

Kaylee Anderson – CIA
Anderson is a 5’11 right side hitter with a solid left handed swing. She provides a block where she was able to make a major difference for her side of the net whether it was in the simulated Queens games or 6 v 6. She has a lot of raw athleticism where she will be able to build up for a big Senior season at Charles City.
