At the Tour of Iowa Showcase at Iowa Select in Davenport we had plenty of talent rise from the Class of 2024 in Iowa and Illinois. Here are a few names to note that will be on the radar of this year, but also years to come as their high school and club careers continue. For the Illinois athletes, they are still waiting to suit up for their high school teams which could be this spring! Here are some 2024’s to know and keep tabs on the next few years!
Saw Ruth Ziegler play for @SkyHighVB 15-1 NS at the Quad Cities Clash a few weeks ago. She is a promising 2024 pin! pic.twitter.com/otqwynpcyJ

Ruth Ziegler – Sky High 15-1 NS
Ziegler is an attacker to have high on the radar. Ziegler was able to show she could attack from either pin as well as put up a strong block. I first saw Ziegler play at the Prep Dig Quad Cities Clash event and she came back to Davenport and continued to really impress with her overall skill and power, it will be exciting to watch her career progress.
Maggie Johnson – Iowa Select
Extremely athletic. Johnson’s name was one of the first numbers I wrote down because even in a warm up setting where athletes play mini games, Johnson was really springy, she has hops. She is dynamic where you can see how she can do multiple things on the court where she can make plays happen. She’s the type of player who can succeed no matter what position she is at on the court.
Olivia Cotton flat out jumps out of the gym. 2024 at @PVVolleyball and @iowaselectvbc pic.twitter.com/cWDMK23rhZ

Olivia Cotton – Iowa Select
So impressive. Cotton’s leaping ability is something special where she just flys! She is a pin attacker where she can swing from the left or right side as well as attack out of the backrow. She could have an exciting track season upcoming for Pleasant Valley who always has a strong program. She will be one to watch for both sports throughout her career.
Nora Larson – Sky High 15-1 NS
Larson brings length and athleticism with her game. She is one who plays well above the net with her block and attacking. She was part of a strong trio coming over from Sky High that included Ziegler and strong 2024 libero, Jaimie Marquardt. They are very fundamentally sound and now how to execute in multiple settings.
Georgia Brunkan – Iowa Select
Brunkan stood out as a scrappy defensive player with her serve receive and being able to take pace off the ball. For being at the 15s level, she has quick feet, and great pursuit to the ball.
Kaci Johnson – North Scott High School
Johnson showed she could put up a good ball for her attackers and was solid all around, she knew how to defend and was able to make plays happen.
Alyssa Malmassari – 1st Alliance – Starved Rock
Malmassari was uber athletic in how she was able to make plays and wasn’t afraid to take a big swing from the outside. At times, athletes in a setting like this will play cautious and tend to tip a little more than they are accustomed to, but Malmassari was not afraid to be aggressive.
Sophie Cremeens – Eastside – Ice 15U Elite
This Eastside 15s team showed they could compete among the top 15s and 16s at the Quad Cities Clash and some of their athletes came back to play at the Tour of Iowa Showcase. Cremeens is another one of those scrappy liberos who is everywhere. She has great platform awareness and knows how to anticipate to beat the ball to the spot.
Mia Tubbs – Iowa Select
Tubbs is long, athletic, and can really get above the net on her block. She is a 6’2 setter that has the potential to play multiple positions in the front row.
