The most important moment of the season is just around the corner for teams from the 15s, 16s and 17s age group from around the country as the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center from June 26-July 5.

As many as 728 teams are expected to compete in the 15 divisions for these three age groups and the state of Texas will, of course, be well-represented in the tournament with more than 50 teams expected to make the trip to Nevada.

During the next few weeks, we’ll use this space to present the Lone Star state representatives in the tournament, recapping their performances during the club season and highlighting some of their top prospects.

H Skyline 17 Royal

The 17 Royal team of the Houston Skyline club has one of the greatest collections of talent in the entire state and the tremendous amount of quality the squad has shown in the season as they lost only two of the 40 matches they played. The team led by head coach Jennifer Woods has had a fantastic season so far with victories at the Houston Shoot Out, the Sunshine Volleyball Classic, the Red Rock Rave and the Adidas Lone Star Classic and will be one of Texas’ main hopes of success in Las Vegas.

Players to Watch

[player_tooltip player_id="87469" first="Brielle" last="Warren"] – Outside Hitter – HS: Fulshear – 2022

When it comes to power and explosiveness at the pin, it’s hard to beat [player_tooltip player_id="87469" first="Brielle" last="Warren"]. The 6’1” outside hitter is extremely athletic and has a very heavy arm, a combination that makes of her unstoppable at the net when she’s at her best. She had a huge variety of shots and great court awareness to know when to use each of them. Ranked fourth on our 2022 Prep Dig State Rankings, Warren will play for Purdue at the collegiate level

[player_tooltip player_id="87470" first="Maddie" last="Waak"] – Setter – HS: Katy – 2022

Madie Waak is hands down one of the best setters in the entire state as she ranks 6th on our 2022 Prep Dig State Rankings. A left-handed, 5’10” setter, she has a very complete game as outside from mastering her setting duties she’s also a constant threat with her setter dumps and a very efficient player on defense. Waak is the kind of player that makes her teammates better and LSU was quick on realizing that and securing a commitment from her.

[player_tooltip player_id="87474" first="Allie" last="Sczech"] – Opposite – HS: George Ranch

This Skyline 17 Royal has no shortage of excellent offensive pieces and [player_tooltip player_id="87474" first="Allie" last="Sczech"] is another of them. It’s easy to look at her 6’4” frame and think her efficiency comes entirely from it but the truth is that there’s much more to her game. As a lefty, Sczech is naturally a great fit on the right and she adds to it by being able to hit a lot of different sets. She will unleash all her power when the set calls for it but can also play nice and smartly when conditions are not ideal. She currently ranks ninth on our 2022 Prep Dig State Rankings and is set for a great collegiate career at Baylor.
