We have written about some of these athletes before, however we are going to now re-introduce them once again but now with their much deserved overall State Ranking attached to their name. For the new athletes that we have not written about yet, we are excited to officially welcome them to the Rankings. Congratulate them on social media or in person the next time you see them. Welcome to the list ladies…
Melanie McGann Melanie McGann 6'3" | RS Keller | 2022 State TX [2022] 6-3 Right Side (HS: Keller/Club: Texas Advantage /Verbal: West Virginia)
We are very pleased to re-introduce Melanie to our readers officially as the 44th best overall prospect in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She is a phenomenal player for Keller High School and also for the nationally recognized Texas Advantage Volleyball. We just wrote an article on her commitment to play in college. Here is a little of what we wrote, “We are very pleased to announce that she recently chose to verbally commit to West Virginia. The Mountaineers will enjoy her height and show stopping abilities on the court. Her long reach will adapt very well to the collegiate blocking scheme of WVU. She presses extremely well to seal the net against the opponents power left side pin attackers. Her upper body strength allows her to solidify a solid block on the right. She possesses the ability to hit both through the block and around it with power. Please congratulate her on her great accomplishment of playing at the next level. We look forward to covering her senior season this year.” This young lady is a shut down force on the right side and she is a solid attacker for every team she is on. We were wowed when we watched her in person at USA Nationals this summer in Vegas. She has every chance to improve in the rankings as she will star for Keller HS this year. Please congratulate her on being one of the best players in the Lone Star State.
Currie Marusak Currie Marusak 5'10" | OH Amarillo | 2022 State #130 Nation TX [2022] 5-11 Outside (HS: Amarillo/Club: Amarillo Elite/Verbal: Texas Tech)
Please welcome Curry to the 2022 Prep Dig State Rankings. We have her listed as the 46th best prospect in the state. Miss Marusak is a high-flying left side attacker from the Amarillo area who plays at Amarillo High School and also for Amarillo Elite Volleyball club. She is committed to playing at the next level with Texas Tech and will be a star for them when she suits up next season. The athleticism that Currie possesses will make the casual observer stop in their tracks. When you first look at her frame you would not expect the raw power that she hits the ball with to come from her. She has excellent ball control with her attacks as she is able to turn on the ball in mid-air and drill the line with authority. The Red Raider program will love her bouncy lower body and she will be a stud for them the moment she walks on campus. We are happy to have her in the Prep Dig family now and will be watching her senior season closely and reporting on her play. Please help us congratulate her on her State Ranking.
Emily Hellmuth Emily Hellmuth 6'4" | RS Highland Park | 2022 State #77 Nation TX [2022] 6-3 Outside (HS: Highland Park/Club: Dallas Skyline/Verbal: Pepperdine)
We are very pleased to re-introduce Miss Hellmuth to our readers officially as the 55th best overall prospect in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She is a fantastic pin hitter for Highland Park High School and also for the nationally recognized Dallas Skyline club program. We profiled Emily recently in an article on her Highland Park HS team in which we stated the following, “She has been unstoppable since the season just started for the Scots as she has posted 12 kills against Red Oak HS this week. She picked up right where she left off last year and looks to have a fantastic senior season. Miss Hellmuth will be a big reason why we have picked Highland Park to go for a dominant run this year. We are very pleased to announce that she recently chose to verbally commit to Pepperdine University. Pepperdine will love the skill set that Emily brings to the table. We look forward to covering her senior season this year. Stay tune to see where she falls on the rankings.” When we analyzed her skill-set thoroughly we noticed that she is much more than just a tall player. This young lady can flat out ball on the pins. Many would think that because of her size she would only be able to play middle or opposite, but she shows such great control over the ball in every aspect including passing. Pepperdine knows exactly what they are getting in Emily. She has every chance to move up the rankings due to her workload at Highland Park this season. Stay tuned to see more fireworks from her as we will be watching. In the meantime, please congratulate her on being named one of the best players in the state.
We will be publishing more articles daily to give the recognition to each athlete that has earned the right to be called a top 150 Texas Volleyball Player.
