Almost 600 teams coming from everywhere around the Lone Star State will be on the court, competing in the 15s, 16s and 17s divisions. Around 150 of those teams will also be playing for the much-coveted bids to the National Championship in those age groups.
Prep Dig will be covering the event over the weekend, bringing photos and reports on the players that stand out on the court, but before it begins, let’s take the time to highlight some prospects who could be poised for strong showings this weekend.
These setters will have major roles with their teams:
Listed as the top setter in the state in our recently released Class of 2027 Prep Dig State Rankings, Albright will be with Austin Skyline 15 Royal in the 15 Bid Division. She’s very smooth, precise with her locations and consistent with her ball distribution, making the most of the hitters around her. Albright’s long frame and her excellent body control help her a lot when she has to deal with tight passes. Because of her size, she’s also an asset to the team when at the net, taking up hitting duties and blocking with tremendous efficiency.

Martinez will be setting for Valley Venom – 161 Red in the 16 Bid division this weekend in Houston. An extremely technical and quick player, she combines extremely well with Aleena Zuniga Aleena Zuniga 5’8″ | S Sharyland Pioneer | 2026 TX to make of the setter position a strong one for her team. Martinez does an excellent job with her distribution and can remain precise even when she has to work with out-of-system passes. She’s also a difference-maker on the backcourt, producing impressive numbers with her tough floater and her outstanding defense while also generating multiple transition opportunities for her team every set.

One of the most exciting setters to emerge in the San Antonio area lately, Mann will play for Alamo 16 Elite in the 16 Bid Division at the Lone Star Regionals. Her setting technique catches the eye of anyone watching as her hands posture is always perfect and her release is as smooth as it gets. Mann is also in a class of her own when it comes to athleticism in her group of setters as no one can match her footwork and her ability to get off the ground. The setter is very productive at the net with her dumps, but also does solid work on defense, displaying great ball control and playing with great determination.

Aguilar will be setting for TX Legacy 17 Adidas in the 17 Bid division of the event. Her game is based on consistency and reliability as she’s the kind of setter that can hit the same locations over and over again during matches, regardless of the situation. Aguilar is very technical, but also very strong mentally, making good decisions and remaining calm even when under pressure. Her defensive game is also worth noting as she’s very difficult to beat with tips and also has great ball control to deal with hard-driven swings at the right back position.

Dunn is a big part of her Houston Stellar 17 Elite team that will get on the court in the 17 Bid division. She’s highly technical and extremely mobile and uses that combination to consistently put her hitters in a good position to score with accurate sets. Dunn likes to keep all her hitters involved and is very good at dishing quick sets to the pins. Because she gets off the floor well and has a heavy right arm, she can also contribute to the team’s offense by swinging on the right.
