Continue ReadingWe are proud of our third update to the 2023 Class as we have now grown to 140 of the best athletes that this state has to offer and the following players have made some serious moves on the list. It is through their play during this past season that has helped us decide who should be where on the rankings. We always say that it is not an exact science, however proving it on the court in their position always helps solidify the analysis. We will be profiling players who were previously ranked in the state, but through great play, they made some serious moves up the rankings. Without further ado, here are a few players who moved up:
Kyndal Stowers Kyndal Stowers 6'0" | OH Guyver | 2023 State #8 Nation TX [2023] 5-11 Middle (HS: Guyer/Club: Texas Advantage Volleyball/Verbal: Baylor)
We have decided to move Miss Stowers to be ranked as the best overall prospect and best outside on our State Rankings in the 2023 class. We wrote about her a few times this past season and here is a little from the articles, “This young lady is the real deal. She plays out of the left and right side pins last season as a freshman on varsity for the Guyer program, but they may use her primarily on the left this year with the departure of Maggie Walsh Maggie Walsh 5'10" | OH San Marcos | 2022 State TX . Kyndal has all of the tools to be a fantastic outside hitter for the next three years. She will no doubt be a division 1 prospect. She plays for the famed TAV club program that routinely pumps out Div one prospects. This kid has the type of bounce that can’t be taught. She has length in her extremities which allow her to reach over blockers and hit with authority. What I love the most about her is her quickness off of the ground and her ability to move the ball around and score so easily. In my professional opinion, she is one of the best hitters in the state of Texas in the 2023 class and will grow to be even better with more experience under her belt. If you don’t know her name, write it down and get some popcorn because you are in for a treat watching her attack the ball. Kyndall has blossomed into one of the premier outside hitters in the state. She stepped up for the Guyer program this season and handled a lot of the offensive load for them as a sophomore. She filled up the stat book with 288 kills, 30 blocks, and 277 digs. We will be hearing about this young lady for the foreseeable future in the sport of volleyball. We are extremely proud of her as she just showed the nation just how scary good she has gotten. What is scarier is that she is just getting started and still has two more years to improve. The volleyball world is her oyster right now and she is getting hundreds of looks from colleges. There is not a single school that wouldn’t choose her. Stay tuned as we are sure the offers will flood in. Please help us congratulate her team for winning the USAV 16 Open National Championship and her for being named the most valuable player.” She just recently committed to national power Baylor University and will be a stud for their program to continue their dominance at the Division 1 level. We loved watching her play in person this summer in Vegas at the GJNC. What stood out was how composed she was at the highest level of competition in her age group. She was unflappable during the tough times that her team needed her the most to help capture the National Championship. Everyone that crowded around her court during each match was in awe of the athleticism that she possesses on the court. Please help us congratulate her on being named the best player in the state of Texas in her grad class.
Kate Hansen Kate Hansen 6'3" | MB Weatherford | 2023 State #67 Nation TX [2023] 6-3 Middle (HS: Weatherford /Club: Texas Advantage/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Kate moved up the rankings from the 14th best overall prospect to now become the 7th best overall prospect and the 2nd best middle in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. We have written about Miss Hansen a few times and we said the following, “While the 2023 class is young, players like Kate certainly have my attention. I’m sure she will have the attention of college coaches soon once volleyball resumes. She is a dominant force as a freshman middle in the Dallas area. The most notable aspect of her game will definitely be her power on her attacks. They will never go unnoticed. Myself, I am very intrigued more so by her footwork. It is beyond her years to be able to move like that in transition off the net and toward her setter. She has the ability to move up those rankings quite a bit with the future I see for her. Coaches take note of her now as she won’t be a secret long. I have been watching very closely and this past season she earned so many honors with her play on her Varsity squad. She was one of the main weapons on their team and helped them to a wonderful record of 23-2 overall and a 14-0 district record. She had 237 kills, hit a .342 efficiency, 86 blocks and 10 aces as a sophomore. Her local newspaper Star Telegram named her the Blocker of the Year. The Texas Sports Writers Association named her 6A All State 2ndteam. The accolades will not stop anytime soon. We are excited to watch as she and her TAV 17 Black team are killing it so far this club season. We are proud that she has moved up 5 spots due to her play on the court. She is now one of the top 4 middles in our large state.” We are very proud of Kate and loved watching her play in person during Nationals. She showed why she is such a highly touted middle. We loved watching her patrol the net and also how strong her serve is. Please help us congratulate her on such a wonderful achievement of being on the USA 16 Open All-Tournament team.” She was stellar in both her offense and defense against the best competition that this nation has to offer. We were wowed over and over again at just how hard she plays the game in every aspect. Her Weatherford HS team is making some serious waves to start out the season and we are enjoying covering their season. Please help us congratulate her on being named as one of the top seven players in the entire state of Texas.
Alyssa Manitzas Alyssa Manitzas 5'2" | DS/L Cornerstone | 2023 State #85 Nation TX [2023] 5-1 Libero (HS: Cornerstone Christian/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Notre Dame)
Alyssa has moved up again in the Rankings. She went from being ranked as the 18th best player to now being the 4th best player on our 2023 Prep Dig State Rankings. She is still listed as the number 1 libero in the state. We have written about her a couple of times and we said the following, “Though only a sophomore, Alyssa plays like a senior. I have watched her personally in a tough match and believe me when I tell you that this one is a gamer. She never gets rattled no matter the opponent or the score. For a younger player to be as cool, calm, and collected as she is during a big match says everything about her future. This young lady is destined for greatness on the court and in life. As far as her skill-set is concerned she excels on both the defensive side of the ball and in serve reception. I love two things about her technique the most. The spacing and control of her platform while playing the ball allow her to create amazing angles to deliver to her setter. The second thing I love is her footwork. She is always balanced while moving without the ball and it helps during contact. Alyssa is extremely skilled and solid. While the oohs and aahs happen for the big swings, every college coach will drool over her play if they see her in person. I will be watching her career on the court very closely. We are excited to see her club team this season. Everything that was written is true and the scary part is she is only getting better with more time and experience. She has the work ethic and great parents/support system to keep her head in training and not let the top libero spot get to her. I know she will only continue to keep working on her craft. Her and her Alamo team are preparing for USA Nationals as they are qualified and want to again solidify themselves as one of the best teams in the country in their age group.” She just recently committed to Notre Dame and they are going to get a stud when she joins them in a few years. We have seen her live a couple of times now and each time it gets better and better. This young lady has nerves of steel and every young libero should watch how she prepares for a match and how she plays the game. She deserves every accolade that she gets over the course of her junior career as there will be no question that she has truly earned it. Please help us congratulate her on being named one of the top four volleyball players in the great state of Texas.
