With that in mind, we’re starting a series that will highlight some of the most promising Washington players according to their positions and regions. Our list today is made of three young outside hitters who have been extremely successful in the Bothell region.
Kyleene Filimaua – HS: North Creek – Club: North Pacific Juniors – 2023
Arguably the most coveted prospect in the entire state, Kyleene Filimaua has been a star since before she joined North Creek, in 2019, as she committed to play volleyball and beach volleyball for Florida State even before starting her high school career. Filimaua has great size for the sport at 6’1” but is extremely smooth and masters each and every skill of the game. She has done great in her first seasons of high school volleyball and also at the club level.
Eleanor Hayd Eleanor Hayd 6'1" | OH Bothell | 2023 State WA – HS: Bothell – Club: North Pacific Juniors – 2023
Eleanor ‘Nora’ Hayd is another outside hitter from the class of 2023 from the Bothell area with tremendous potential. At 6’2”, she’s a handful to deal with at the net and can cause damage even the set is not perfectly placed. Hayd, who’s typically used as a right sider for her club team North Pacific Juniors, has a heavy arm and isn’t shy about using it to score points when she has to, but is also very smart with her choices. An excellent server, she recently started working on her beach game too, becoming an even more complete and well-rounded player.
Marissa Till – HS: Woodinville – Club: Washington Volleyball Academy – 2022
Marissa Till is one of the most talented players of her high school team Woodinville. A 5’10” outside hitter, she’s extremely reliable on offense due to her ability to hit in multiple directions and to get off the floor, which are both particularly helpful when in transition. Till is also a very good reader of the game, a skill that helps her when blocking and playing defense.
