<p>As postseason action is fully under way, here are five state assists leaders at the setter position.</p>
<p><strong>Lauren Berger</strong> - 2023 | Nordonia<br />
The 5’4 junior is averaging over 12 assists per set and is currently the only setter to amass over 900 assists this season with 941 total to date. Berger has dished over 40 assists in a match 10 times this season including a high of 48 in their most recent 3-0 win over Solon. She has the benefit of setting the state’s current offensive leader in total kills in senior <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="114487" first="Mya" last="Sopata"]</strong>, who is averaging 6.9 kills per set. The Knights are 18-6 overall and next take on Walsh Jesuit on Tuesday.</p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="154978" first="Kat" last="Hinkel"]</strong> - 2022 | Wyoming<br />
Wyoming finished a perfect 14-0 to win the Cincinnati Hills Conference crown as Hinkel earned 1st team all-conference honors for her efforts. She topped the conference in total assists and currently stands at 864 on the season for an 11.1 assists per set average. Her biggest offensive target in junior <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="114519" first="Ally" last="Cordes"]</strong> provided the bulk of her assist numbers as Cordes topped the conference offensively at over 400 kills thus far while earning Player of the Year recognition. At 21-3 overall, they next take on Batavia this Wednesday in postseason play.</p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="141725" first="Lindsey" last="Green"]</strong> - 2023 | Ursuline<br />
Just a junior, Green led arguably the toughest Division I conference in Ohio in total assists as she has 852 total assists to help Ursuline finish tied atop the league at 5-3. Green is also arguably the best setter in the state of Ohio as she continues to prove her value as a floor leader and savvy offensive distributor. The Lions are 17-6 overall and ranked #3 is the most recent Ohio state poll for Division I, sandwiched between two GGCL rivals in #2 St. Ursula and #4 Mount Notre Dame. They next face Colerain on Tuesday.</p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="154980" first="Ellie" last="Kirker"]</strong> - 2022 | Tallmadge<br />
A 2020 Suburban American all-conference honorable mention selection, Kirker is destined to find herself receiving further accolades following 2021 as she is currently #4 on this list of top distributors in the state with 836 total assists. She has helped guide the Blue Devils to a .222 hitting efficiency as they are averaging 12.2 kills per set. Just a few weeks ago she broke the school record with 57 total assists in a single match as Tallmadge defeated Aurora 3-2. She also recently broke the school record for career assists as she is closing in on 2,100 with additional postseason competition coming up. Tallmadge, 18-6 overall, next plays Archbishop Hoban on Wednesday.</p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="152431" first="Hannah" last="Lyons"]</strong> - 2022 | Monroeville<br />
With 826 total assists this season, the 5’5 senior has averaged 10.6 assists per set. She has twice eclipsed the 50-assist threshold this season in a single match. The Eagles are currently 19-4 overall and have some potent offensive threats as senior <strong>Graisyn Yoder</strong> and junior <strong>Maddie Daniel</strong> are both averaging over five kills per set. Finishing 2nd in the Firelands Conference this season, Monroeville continues their postseason effort this week taking on league rival St. Paul this Tuesday, a team they have lost to twice already this season in very competitive extra-set matches.</p>
