With several key district games going on last week to determine seedings for next week, even in two five losses, three players from Lafayette did all they could to get their team the key wins.

The powerful swinging outside hitter for the Lancers had two big games, but both ended in losses. In a five-set loss to Borgia, [player_tooltip player_id="123472" first="Caitlyn" last="Little"] hammered home 14 kills and put up four blocks. Against Eureka, in another five-set loss, she continues to slam balls, recording 15 more kills. Lafayette went to the stacked Ozark Tournament and won the championship over Liberty 2-1.

Another Lancer had a big week in the two losses as well. [player_tooltip player_id="102553" first="Layne" last="Witherspoon"] would put down seven kills in the loss to Eureka but defensively stood strong record four blocks. In the five-set loss to Borgia, she would slam home several sharp crosscourt kills to record 14 in the Borgia loss.

[player_tooltip player_id="124222" first="Allison" last="Risley"] (2024) | Lafayette

The more I get to see this kid play, the more I get excited about her. Risley had a massive game in the loss to Borgia, putting down 20 kills on 52 swings. She’s coming into her own late in the season, and the Lancers will need more of this from Allison to get out of the brutal district tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id="119218" first="Lily" last="Brown"] (2022) | Borgia

Here’s a player that would be a star on most other teams, but on Borgia, the right-side hitter is used more for putting up a big block on the right. In the five-set win over district rival Lafayette, the senior would record 12 kills taking advantage of the line shot she has mastered the last two years. Moved to the outside for the Ozark tournament, she would add 45 kills over the weekend.

The Chargers have been on a roll with 11 straight wins after starting the year 5-5-3. Thanks to a big performance from Drysdale on the last two wins recording 23 kills and seven blocks.

Tara Greenberry (2025) | Incarnate Word Academy

A 6’2 freshman has stepped up her game this month and is another reason the Red Knights have pulled off some upsets. In the five-set win over Nerinx Hall, she would record 13 kills and two blocks. She’ll become lethal over the next four years and will get the Red Knights back into the playoffs soon, if not this year.
