Of course, with all the other positions covered in our Iowa Top 250 Expo preview series already covered, we surely can’t forget about setters. There’s a lot of good ones coming to Grimes.

Here are the previews for outside hitters, middle blockers, and defensive specialists. Finally, we get to talk about some players that know how to dish the ball. These are just a few of the setters that I’m excited to see at the Iowa Top 250 Expo.

Sydney Kleist - 5’7 S - Linn-Mar - Class of 2023

Linn-Mar has a couple of skilled setters that see plenty of court time, and Kleist is one to watch from the Class of 2023. She’s an all-around athlete who clearly brings it every time she steps on the court for the Lions. Kleist ought to thrive in this expo environment.

Julianne Lundvall - 5’9 S - Gilbert - Class of 2023

Lundvall is one of a few setters at this event that is also talented enough to hit in the front row. Aside from her ability to distribute the ball at a high level, Lundvall is also an excellent right-back defender and can dig down the line with precision. Keep an eye on this well-rounded skillset in Grimes.

Kali Nelson - 5’6 S - Lisbon - Class of 2023

The Lisbon Lions got a pretty outstanding mark from their junior setter this year: 1000 assists in a single season! It’s a testament to Nelson’s natural ability to put her hitters in good spots and locate the ball consistently. She is a very welcomed addition to the expo entry list.

[player_tooltip player_id="108422" first="Madelyn" last="Norton"] - 5’10 S - Dike-New Hartford - Class of 2023

There’s very little that Dike-New Hartford didn’t accomplish in 2021, and Norton was a huge part of the historic run for the Wolverines. She racked up over 1200 assists en route to a Class 2A state championship and was also lethal on the setter dump. Norton can surely find the spotlight at any expo event she attends.

[player_tooltip player_id="79672" first="Allie" last="Barlow"] - 5’10 S - Cedar Rapids Jefferson - Class of 2023

Barlow has an unwavering commitment to making every player around her better. She brings a lot of all-around skills to the court and can always make a big play regardless of rotation. It should be fun to watch her set up the impressive stable of hitters at this event.

Brittany Bacorn - 5’9 S - Knoxville - Class of 2024

Bacorn is quickly turning into one of the can’t-miss 2024s in Iowa. She gave the Panthers plenty of production both as a setter and attacker, and we should get to see a lot of those attributes shine through in Grimes.

Hadley Hardersen - 5’10 S - Des Moines Christian - Class of 2025

We’ll end this feature with a 2025 who plays for one of Iowa’s premier programs. We’re going to learn a lot about the state’s 2025s at this event, and Hardersen is surely one to follow after she got plenty of on-court experience as a freshman.
