Continue ReadingWith high school season all wrapped up, let’s take a look at some of the standouts from the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference. Have you ever wondered what it would look like if we took all of the top players in the area and put them on the same team? Well, that’s just what we did. These are the standout players that made a big impact on their high school teams this season. The following players earned a spot on this years District 1 Dream Team.
District 1 Dream Team (in alphabetical order)
2022 Abbie Householder Abbie Householder 6'0" | OH Canfield | 2022 State OH – OH / Canfield High School
Abbie is a powerhouse player. She can elevate and go get the ball. With so many different shots, she is a threat from anywhere on the court. Receiving Player of the year for Division I, Abbie led the Cardinals to a 14-9 season. She finished the season with 500 kills, 31 blocks, 54 aces and 367 digs. They will definitely be missing her presence on the court next season.
2024 Alivia Hughes – OH / Wester Reserve High School
Hughes is an underclassman that we just had to have on the “Dream Team”. She was a standout for the Blue Devils leading them to a 22-4 season. Her team counts on her to get things going in those tough games. It will be fun watching her develop over the next couple of years. Hughes ended her season with 321 kills, 8 blocks, 98 aces and 299 digs.
2022 Sydney Mercer – OH,MH,RS / West Branch High School
A powerful player that isn’t afraid to hit the ball. She can make plays at critical times and has the ability to find the holes in the opponents blocks. She is a very energetic player and is fun to watch. Helping her team to a 20-5 finish on the season, she ended her senior year with 294 kills, 17 blocks, 38 aces and 184 digs.
2022 Lucy Montgomery – S, OH, OPP / Crestview High School
A well balanced player, can play just about any position. However, she really shines in the setter role. She is a very vocal player and is always pushing her team to get it done. Montgomery earned Division III Player of the year honors for the Rebels. Leading her team to a 26-1 run this year she will undoubtedly be missed next season. Montgomery ended her season with 305 kills, 73 aces, 335 assists and 236 digs.
2023 Lauren Pallone Lauren Pallone 5'11" | OH Girard | 2023 State OH – OH / Girard High School
Lauren is the type of player that can change the outcome of a game just by stepping on the court. She plays with a confidence that seems to put her team at ease. She was awarded Player of the year for Division II and deservingly so. She led her team to a 24-2 season. Finishing her season with 494 kills, 36 blocks, 72 aces and 233 digs she will be a player to watch for next season.
2025 Presley Stokes Presley Stokes 5'10" | OH Wellsville | 2025 State OH – OH, DS / Wellsville High School
Yes, she is only a freshman. What an outstanding player she is. She hits with such power and purpose, it’s hard to believe the Tigers will have her for another 3 seasons. She is without a doubt the leader on her team. Great ball control and one of the most lethal top spin jump serves in all of Ohio. Stokes led her team to an impressive 27-1 season. Named Division IV Player of the year along with OVAC Player of the year. Presley was also one of only two freshman to receive All Ohio honors. She finished her season with 431 kills, 59 blocks, 97 aces and 265 digs. We will surely be hearing this name for years to come.
2022 Brooke Tallbot – S, OH, DS / Beaver High School
Brooke is another one of those do-it-all players. She is quick off the floor to attack at the net and sets out of the back row for the Beavers. They utilize her in so many ways. She is a must have on the Dream team. Pushing her team to a 20-4 season, she ended her season with 228 kills, 30 blocks, 72 aces, 309 assists and 197 digs. She will continue her volleyball career at Thiel College.
