Running a straight 6-2 in the matches I saw, setters Varya Rahoizha (’24, 5-11 S, Andrean) and Addison Pantell (’23, 5-4 S/DS, Washington Township) ran a well-balanced offense. Each have their advantages; Varya can get to a ton of balls that are passed tight, while Addison used her footwork to get to a ton of balls off the net. When in system, middles Ava Copak Ava Copak 6'0" | MB Lowell | 2023 State IN (’23, 5-11 MB/RS, Lowell) and Kailee Eldridge (’23, 5-9 MB/RS, Washington Township) kept defenses honest. Although Ava was the taller and longer player of the two, both held their own against bigger competition, and both could play either middle or right side at the next level. Julia Maggio (’23, 5-9 OH, Marquette) has a heavy arm and was the six-rotation outside needed in a 6-2, while Kennedy Oselka (’23, 5-9 OH/RS, Marquette) was a consistent force on the attack. Let’s not forget the other pin, though. Lefty Mackenzie Rice (’23, 5-11 RS, Andrean) can set in a pinch if needed, and has a whip of an arm to boot. The other right side was righty Meghan Beck (’23, 5-9 OH/RS, Wheeler), whose variety of shots helped just when the squad needed her. Finally, you can’t have success at this level without that first ball contact. Kayle Dove (’23, 5-8 DS/L, LaPorte) is a taller than average ’bro, and can use her length to get to balls without hitting the floor.
