A week after the 18s and 16s divisions conducted Tournament 1, it was the 15s and 17s age groups going at it for their first tournament of the four-tournament schedule. Prep Dig was on hand for both Saturday and Sunday action. Below, we list six top attackers from the 17s that we witnessed.
Addison Benson, OH, Legacy 17 Pyramid – Benson combines with Kylie Tengberg to give Legacy a solid duo at outside. She’s tall and with that can deliver some big kills straight down where the defense can’t do much with it.
Paige Buzzerio Paige Buzzerio 6'2" | OH Orange Lutheran | 2023 State CA , OH, A4 Volley 17 Joaco – With a lanky build, A4 will look to give Buzzerio the ball often when she’s in the front row. She has good court vision and can place her shots well, including having the ability to go over the block with the right set.
Milan Bayless, OH, Coast 17-1 – The inches Bayless may not have in height she more than makes up for with her fierce and energetic play. She attacks with a physicality that makes it tough on the block. She also has a good sense of when to go off speed so back row defenders can’t just dig in.
Jillian Neal, OH, Coast 17-1 – With star outside Claire Little Claire Little 6'2" | OH Vista Murrieta | 2023 State #46 Nation CA not in the lineup Sunday, Coast showed off its depth by inserting Neal into the action. She fits right in with the physicality Coast displays overall and she is able to blow up blocks and score when called upon.
Malia Peterson, OH, Surfside 17 MB Legends – Peterson is the go-to for Surfside and she displayed why with an arsenal of shots. She scored with nice placement down the line, with power cross court and with a nice off speed shots that keeps the defense guessing.
Jordin Taulua, RS, Seal Beach 17 Black – Seal Beach makes up for its lack of height with grit and scrappiness. Taulua brings a physical presence on the right side and attacks with power when her number is called.
