It’s been a while since we’ve made a contribution to the 2022 Club Season Spotlight series, so let’s add another one to the collection!

During the season, I’ve tried to do these spotlights on teams that have found recent success. That’s exactly the case with Premier Nebraska 16 Silver, which just won a 16 Club title at last weekend’s Asics President’s Day Classic in Omaha.

So, let’s highlight some of the players who helped make it happen. This is Premier Nebraska 16 Silver.

Strength in the Frontcourt

There are plenty of players that 16 Silver can lean on in the front row.

Middle blocker Anna Strohmeier has been particularly effective this season in a variety of roles. She terminates well in front of the setter, puts up a big block, and can even dish out a big serving run for her team. That’s an M1 you want on your side. Meanwhile, [player_tooltip player_id="122815" first="Lexi" last="Hans"] and Emma Fontana also do some incredibly valuable work in the middle.

Let’s shift over to the pins, where there are a lot more names to mention. On the left side, [player_tooltip player_id="122824" first="Kayla" last="Eggiman"] finds every possible way to contribute to this team. She can handle serve receive and play defense in addition to being an efficient terminator in the frontcourt. Her left-side counterpart, [player_tooltip player_id="105004" first="Sydney" last="Horn"], has an equally impactful role when she takes the court, too.

There are also two opposites on this team that make major contributions with the two-setter system that 16 Silver typically runs. [player_tooltip player_id="187693" first="Madison" last="Cude"] and [player_tooltip player_id="187692" first="Makenza" last="Holly"] are two natural right-side hitters who give 16 Silver a great scoring option on that pin in any rotation. On a good pass, this team is able to distribute the ball well to these two hitters and finds plenty of success in the process.

First and Second Contacts

It’s no secret that the most dominant club teams often handle the ball control phase well, and that’s what we get from Premier 16 Silver.

We’ll kick things off with the setters. As I mentioned, this is a team that usually uses two different setters across the back row. [player_tooltip player_id="183955" first="Anabel" last="Seaman"] always brings incredible energy and skill when she’s on the floor. Her relentless right-back defense kept countless plays alive for 16 Silver last weekend. She also has the tempo and location to run this offense to perfection.

16 Silver doesn’t miss a beat when [player_tooltip player_id="185755" first="Rylee" last="Anderson"] rotates in to set, either. Like Seaman, Anderson has a mature feel for tempo and always puts her hitters in spots where they can succeed. In all, these setters simply bring the right combination for Premier and are a big part of their President’s Day triumph.

In the backcourt, [player_tooltip player_id="183983" first="Quinn" last="Groves"] consistently holds things down defensively at the libero spot. Her serve receive is stout, and she’s always available to cover court space for her fellow passers. Defensive specialist [player_tooltip player_id="187695" first="Erin" last="Wunderlich"] completes this strong position and ensures that Premier 16 Silver will have a backcourt to carry them to new heights in 2022.
