The event featured 77 club teams across its three divisions and they competed in three different venues in the area. Our destination was the FAST Complex, where 32 of the 44 teams from the 16s division hit the court on Saturday.
We’ll highlight the top prospects we spotted in the tournament over the course of the week, starting with the setters:
Charli Crowson Charli Crowson 6'1" | OH Brenham | 2024 State TX – HJV 16 Elite – HS: Brenham – 2024
Charli Crowson Charli Crowson 6'1" | OH Brenham | 2024 State TX has all the tools to become an elite setter. She has excellent size at 6’1” but is very coordinated and moves well on the court. Her setting technique is very good and her volleyball IQ too because she got to use all the great hitters she had by her side on HJV 16 Elite in a very balanced and intelligent way. She also excels in some intangibles, such as communicating well with her teammates and being supportive of them at all times. Crowson, who joined Houston Juniors this season coming from the Houston Skyline, has shown how well-rounded and versatile her game is during the last high school season, when she produced 740 assists, 332 kills, 237 digs, 73 aces and 33 blocks with Brenham. She ranks 63rd in our 2024 Prep Dig State Rankings.
Savanna Ware – Texas Tornados 16 National – HS: Cinco Ranch – 2024
Savanna Ware stood out for her creative style of play with Texas Tornados 16 National. The 5’8” setter runs a fast-paced and well-diversified offense and is a nightmare for opposing middle blockers who can hardly anticipate her moves. Ware is also a constant scoring threat with her setter dumps and is a very solid defensive player. She didn’t have a lot of playing time in a loaded Cinco Ranch team during the last high school season, but expect that to change in the future if she keeps performing at this weekend’s level.
Brinleigh Davis – Texas Tornados 16 Adidas – HS: Foster – 2024
Brinleigh Davis is another interesting setter from the Texas Tornados club who brings a lot to the table. She has good size at 5’9” and is very dynamic on the court, impacting the game both at the net and on the backcourt. Her distribution is excellent as she plays fast, keeps all hitters involved and makes life difficult for opposing blockers by constantly setting against the flow of play. Davis is a very intelligent player and goes well on defense too. She delivered 293 assists, 119 digs, 19 kills, 15 blocks and 11 aces to her high school team Foster with limited playing time during the last high school season.
