JVA World Challenge witnessed the rise of some of the best athletes from Virginia. Virginia was represented by Virginia Elite Volleyball Club and they were able to shine and show competitiveness at every game. There were players who attracted college coaches and helped their teams to compete at the highest level.

Sarah Malinoski - 6’3 - Right Side Virginia Elite 18

Sarah has become both a good hitter and a great blocker. She had a formidable end of her club season tournament. She was the answer to stop many great attackers, which allowed her team to achieve a five-match win streak. Her coach used a unique set on the right side to allow her to swing high and over the block. The Virginia Tech commit will bring size and power to the front row.

[player_tooltip player_id="181104" first="Phoebe" last="Adams"] - 5’10 - Outside Hitter - Virginia Elite 17

Phoebe is a six rotation player and has solid ball control. She had a great first day, where she was one of the key players for her team to help them advance to the top half. She has a unique style when it comes to hitting the ball. She relies on shots and uses the blocks when she is facing big blockers.

[player_tooltip player_id="181106" first="Sarah" last="Friedrichs"] - 6’1 - Right Side - Virginia Elite 17

Sarah was the game changer for her team on the last day. She brings flexibility to the lineup and can perform on either pins. Sarah stepped up when her team needed her to put the ball away. Blocking is one of the main strengths she is known for.

[player_tooltip player_id="181207" first="Laiya" last="Ebo"] - 6’2 - Middle / Outside Hitter - Virginia Elite 17

Laiya has a lot of physical capabilities that help her to perform at a high level. She is able to play in any front-row position and did a great job helping her team compete against some of the high-level teams. The Butler commit has a heavy arm with a lot of power behind her swing.

Riley Buddy - 6’0 - Outside Hitter - Virginia Elite 16

Riley brings a lot of energy to her teammates. You can hear her cheering and encouraging her teammates. She is also a great example of a teammate. Buddy has a fast arm that can beat the block everytime she gets set. She had a great tournament and was able to help her team go 2-1 on the second day.

Ana Tomatoes - 6’0 - Outside Hitter - Virginia Elite 15

Ana had a phenomenal weekend. She was on at every game she played. She and Avey made a great duo for their team. Ana was able to attack the ball from both the back and the front row. She is a game-changer and knows how to get the job done when her teammates depend on her during tough moments.

[player_tooltip player_id="181243" first="Evelyn" last="Jurden"] - 6’1 - Setter / Right Side - Virginia Elite 15

Avey brought a lot of attention on her first day. There were many college coaches sticking around her court to watch her. The 6’1 setter/hitter has a lot to offer. She is a strong and athletic player who can bounce the ball, no matter who is blocking her. When it comes to setting, she has the ability to set the ball from anywhere in the court. Avey made a lot of noise at the JVA World Challenge and it may be the start of a rising star.
