This will feature the best of the best players in the entire country and we couldn’t be more excited to run it. Over the past 4 years, Prep Dig showcases have hosted over 2,500 prospects in front of hundreds of college coaches from across the country. In addition to watching the showcase in-person or via BallerTV, coverage of this event will be made available to hundreds of our college coach subscribers on PrepDig.com.
We have some seriously amazing talent signed up already and we are super excited. This series of articles will preview some amazing players who are already signed up for the Showcase. Seeing these players in person is going to give us a perfect perspective of how they move, how the ball rebounds off of their platform or hands, and other intricate aspects of their skill-sets. Here are a few players that I cannot wait to see live in person and take them through drills.
Averie Dembickie Averie Dembickie 6'0" | MB Churchill | 2023 State TX [2023] 6-1 Middle (HS: Churchill/Club: SA Elite/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Averie is currently ranked as the 92nd best overall prospect in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She is a solid and efficient middle from Churchill High School and also plays club for San Antonio Elite out of the San Antonio area. We profiled her back in December when we watched her compete at our Showcase in Dallas and here is a little refresher on what we stated, “ We listed her as a top performer because of how well she played in both the positional drills and the team drills. She has been on our radar and will likely move up the rankings with what we saw in person last Sunday. Averie is a wall and very little gets by her. This young lady has been popping up on many coaches radar’s after being named an AAU All American this past summer. She has a college level frame already and will only get stronger as she progresses. This kid is able to do damage on both ends of the floor both as s blocker and an elite attacker. She stays very active and tall throughout the whole rally with a high motor. Every court coach wrote her number down as a top performer so that tells you that she steals the show.” She is a very versatile middle who can do a lot of things on a court for her squad. I’m calling it now…this showcase will be her coming out party to all of the coaches across the country. Stay tuned for more on Miss Dembickie.
Taylor Helms Taylor Helms 6'2" | RS Navarro | 2024 State TX [2024] 6-2 Right Side/Middle (HS: Navarro/Club: United VBA/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Taylor is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but is for sure on our watch list for future updates. She is a lengthy attacker who plays for Navarro High School and also for the United VB Association. She is a true six foot two stopper who primarily plays right side but is able to play in the middle if you need her to. She is long and strong as an attacker and a blocker. Her team uses her early and often and her right arm is golden as it usually results in a score for her team. It is a very fortunate thing to have an opposite who is such a strong point scorer for your team at the 16’s level and United VBA has it in Miss Helms. A lot of tall players have a hard time swinging very fast just because of the length of their arms, but Taylor has a whip of an arm. I cannot wait to see it in action at the showcase and how it looks against the super elite competition that is registered.
Ava Houser Ava Houser 5'9" | S Guyer | 2024 State TX [2024] 5-9 Setter (HS: Denton Guyer/Club: Tejas/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Ava is currently ranked as the 46th best overall prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She is a strong offensive facilitator from Denton Guyer High School and also plays club for Tejas out of the North Texas area. I have seen her in action up close and personal while her team played at the Lone Star Classic National Qualifier. She is a very smooth operator on the court who distributes the ball very evenly to all of her hitters. The ball comes out of her hands lightning fast. Her backset is one of the most beautiful that I have seen in a while. I love how she is able to jump set all of her hitters and she is super consistent with her technique. I think a lot of coaches will be writing her name down when they see what I see in her play. She is an elite setter who plays excellent defense out of the right back zone. One aspect of her play that may get overlooked is how quick her reactions are. Fast twitch muscle fibers are very prevalent in this young dynamo.
