HS Preview: Girard

<p>High School season is right around the corner and we are taking a look at how some teams are shaping up for the season. It's nice to see how the teams adjust to losing key players and what they do with the new talent coming into high school. We get to see a small glimpse at the summer leagues and tournaments. </p>

<p>Girard HS, located in Girard, OH is looking great for the upcoming season. Finishing last year 1st in their conference at 14-0 and 24-2 overall. They lost only 4 seniors from the previous season and return this season with their big hitters, I think they are on track to have another winning season. </p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='169488' first='Lauren' last='Pallone']</strong> (senior) and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='139291' first='Bree' last='Latell']</strong> (Junior) were the Indians go-to hitters last year and I am sure they will be taking on a leadership role again this year. They are both great hitters with big power behind them and will likely be making a big impact this season. </p>

<p>Also returning will be <strong>Esra Dede </strong>(senior) who led the Indians in blocks and will be a big presence at the net this year as well. Bringing back both setters, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='718853' first='Bailey' last='Walters']</strong> (sophmore) and <strong>Allison Durkin</strong> (senior) is a plus, they already have a great connection with the returning hitters and should be able to step right back onto the court without missing a beat.</p>

<p>Girard will start their season with a non-conference game at Canfield, Saturday 8/20. These two teams met up once last season and it went in favor of Canfield with a 3-1 win. However, this year with the return of so many key players for Girard and Canfield losing their top player, Girard may get a little payback this season. I am excited to see what happens and we will keep the coverage coming all season so stay tuned.</p>
