Division 4 looks to be pretty wide open as we come into the 2022 prep season.
A lot of the big names have big graduation losses, while anxious contenders still have to prove themselves.
Still, there's a lot of exciting offensive talent to be keeping any eye on for the new year. Here's a look at 7 teams we expect to be leading the way offensively to start the 2022 season. (in alphabetical order)
Athens: The Indians return a nice core of its talented 2021 offense. Alaina Brubaker is a senior setter with a lot of high-level experience. She has senior outside Kylie Quist and junior middle Kamryn Parlin to work with again. They have a lot of chemistry already and should make Athens a top D4 contender.
Fowler: The Eagles had some big graduation losses, but still have pieces to work with to be a handful for D4 opponents. Anna Vanneste is a senior outside that will be a go-to player for sure. Seniors Carly Andros and Candis Myers were a regular part of the 2021 offense as well and seem capable of taking on a bigger role this fall.

Inland Lakes: The Bulldogs bring back some key pieces from its finalist squad of 2021. Senior outside Natalie Wandrie should be one of the top hitters in all of D4 after being the go-to arm last fall. Senior Hannah Robinson is a great compliment in the middle, while junior Taylor Jones is a promising 6-foot OPP that could be in for a breakout year.
Leland: It's hard to overlook Leland, as it's a proud D4 program that always find ways to be a top contender. Coming into 2022, the Comets will be led by All-State senior setter Alexis Luce. She will have to develop some hitters, but does have a talented junior middle in Fiona Moord to rely on.
Lenawee Christian: The Cougars have a lot to be excited about. Senior outside Isabelle Kirkendall is a returning First Team All-Stater and leads an experience offense. Juniors [player_tooltip player_id='473915' first='Hannah' last='Baker'] and Sophie Samonek combined for over 400 kills last year as well. Senior Sarah Pfister and junior Gabby Bryja return as the setting duo as well. This offense should be strong out the gate.
Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart: The Irish still have some offense to work with from its 2021 semifinalist squad. [player_tooltip player_id="173615" first="Angel" last="Brown"] is an explosive outside that can shoulder a lot of the offensive load this year as a senior. Senior Lillie Laney will be a great asset in the middle as well. Senior Eliza Pieratt is also returning at setter to keep the on-court chemistry strong.
St. Philip: I'm not ready to write off the defending champs. Their proud program will find a way to rebound from the graduation losses quickly. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='209470' first='Maddie' last='Hoelscher'] is still a very strong hitting option, and Makenzee Grimm played a role in the rotation as a sophomore OPP. Charlie Greger was an 8th grade setter that was part of the playoff roster. That could be very important as 2022 begins.
