This is a very prestigious tournament in which teams actually had to earn their bid to play in it. The qualification process is super tough throughout the year and the best of the best rose to the top. Prep Dig was on hand to cover every serve, set, kill, and pass of the ball from start to finish. This next article is going to discuss the 15 Open Division Champions…Alamo 15 Premier.
The tournament field was super stacked with thirty-six of the best teams in the nation. Eight of those teams were from the great state of Texas. Alamo went into the tournament ranked as the 28th overall seed. All season long they have been one of the teams who were just on the cusp of greatness. They have always had the talent to beat anyone and just needed to put it all together at the right time. Their entire roster is riddled with talent. They finished second in their opening pool to stay in division one going into day three and were now ranked as the 10th overall seed. In their second round pool Alamo split their matches with Arizona Sky and Austin Juniors to finish second again. They were still in the hunt and faced a tough MiElite team in the challenge match to get to the Gold bracket. They ended up winning the challenge match (25-17, 25-23). Now they were off to the top 8 Gold bracket on day four.
In the Gold bracket, Alamo was put to the test twice as they went to three sets against 1st Alliance and Drive Nation. They pulled out two gritty wins with superb athleticism and amazing defense. This put them against a juggernaut of a team in Arizona Storm 15 Thunder. A team who has only lost 7 matches all year. A team who was ranked number one in the nation all year long. A team who won the Open Division of the Red Rock Rave National Qualifier and also the Salt Lake City National Qualifier. Yes, Alamo was the David in this story to the Goliath of AZ Storm. This matchup also pitted two of the best outside hitters in the nation to go toe to toe against each other in the center of the ring and see who can win a slugfest.
Alamo 15 Premier picked the right time to play some of the best defense I have ever seen in consecutive rallies to stymie the potent offense of AZ Storm. Teraya Sigler of 15 Thunder is one of the best hitters in the nation in ANY age group and Alamo slowed her down quite a bit with exceptional blocking and digging. She is not the type of player you will shut down completely but they were able to slow her enough to build a lead. I watched Emma Gonzalez and Kaia Thiele deliver the ball super consistently to their hitters and put them in perfect positions to score. Aniya Hall Aniya Hall 5'9" | MB Reagan | 2025 State TX and Elly Stewart Elly Stewart 6'0" | MB Cornerstone Christian | 2025 State TX were brilliant in the middle blocking and unleashing some bombs when they were called to. Libero Brooklyn Vigil played like a woman possessed with superhuman abilities to dig everything that came her way. Right Side Ashtan Dodson was amazing on the opposite pin. But the stars of the show were Mya Allen and Megan Fitch Megan Fitch 6'1" | OH Cornerstone Christian | 2025 State #43 Nation TX . These two outside hitters put on a clinic, ran their routes with passion and scored at will versus the number one seed. Alamo “slung the rock” well as they slaughtered Goliath. They won the 15 Open Championship (25-18, 25-22).
Although all of the players stood out for a variety of reasons, let’s meet a few of the players that stood out to me while I watched them be crowned the best 15’s team in the nation.
Megan Fitch Megan Fitch 6'1" | OH Cornerstone Christian | 2025 State #43 Nation TX [2025] 6-0 Outside (HS: Reagan/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Megan is currently ranked as the 4th best overall prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays at Reagan High School and for Alamo Volleyball out of the San Antonio area. I previously wrote an article on Megan when we unveiled the rankings a few months ago and here is what weI wrote, “This young lady is one of the best point scoring freshman outsides on the list. She has every shot in her arsenal and Alamo routinely goes to her out of the back row in play sets out of serve receive. This just shows how lethal she truly is. I was able to watch her in person at the Triple Crown NIT in Kansas City and she wowed everyone in attendance. She was labeled as the Newcomer of the Year in her district, but the secret is out now. She has definitely arrived and everyone has taken notice.” If she hadn’t arrived yet, she sure did now after nationals. This young lady had every big college in the nation talking about her. She was recognized as the 15 Open Most Valuable Player at Nationals due to her performance. I haven’t seen someone absolutely take over a high level match like she did in the championship match in a while. She was UNSTOPPABLE on offense. This young lady is the real deal and is going to be a problem for opposing teams for the next few years.
Mya Allen [2025] 5-8 Outside (HS: San Antonio Reagan/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Mya is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but she will be ranked very high once I update the list in a few weeks. Miss Allen plays at Reagan High School and also club for the nationally known Alamo Volleyball program. While she might not be a six-footer who looks the part of a volleyball killer, do not sleep on this youngster because she plays fast and furious on the court. She plays with a swag like no other and has freaky athleticism on the left side. Her explosiveness was on full display in the championship match when her team needed her the most and she scored at will against the would be blockers that were put against her. What I loved was her ability to tool the block over and over with her across the body shot off of the hands of the blocker. Her overall level of play in the back row was also astounding. If I learned one thing about her while in attendance of the championship match, I learned this…Mya allen is a flat out phenom and proved she should be listed on our State Rankings.
Brooklyn Vigil [2025] 5-6 Libero (HS: Harlan/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Brooklyn is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but has been on my watch list for a while now and should be ranked as soon as we update them in a few weeks. Miss Vigil plays at Harlan High School and also club for the nationally known Alamo Volleyball program. She showed so much fire in her defensive abilities as she flew around like a goalie stopping everything that came her way. She also delivered some amazing balls to her setters out of serve receive over and over again. Some players shy away from the big stage and clam up, but Brooklyn stepped up to the plate and performed brilliantly as a libero. I loved everything about how she played in the position.
Emma Gonzalez [2025] 5-4 Setter (HS: Johnson/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Emma is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but is on our radar after watching her at nationals and also after seeing her at our Showcase we ran for USA Volleyball. Miss Gonzalez plays at Claudia Taylor Johnson High School and also club for the nationally known Alamo Volleyball program. When you see Emma at first glance, you see a normal small player who will be average at best. Then when you get to watch her in drills or play in a match, you see an absolute beast who can ball. This kiddo plays with a lot of vigor and determination to prove that she belongs on the big stage. Her set location was on point throughout the entire championship match as she set up her hitters in a perfect position to score against a formidable opponent. Emma does everything you want a setter to do on a court including playing exceptional defense out of the right back zone. I have so much respect for her as a person and a player as I have gotten to work with her in the showcase before the tournament and also after watching her dominate at the biggest stage in her age group.
Kaia Thiele [2025] 5-9 Setter/Right Side (HS: Cornerstone Christian/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Kaia is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but is definitely on our radar with what we just saw from her. Miss Thiele plays at Cornerstone Christian High School and also club for the nationally known Alamo Volleyball program. I loved how versatile she was not coming off of the court setting out of the back row and hitting while she rotated to the front row. She produced positive results in every aspect of her game. She provided a great block and offense out of the right side position. Kaia also dished some beautiful dimes to her attackers throughout the championship match. While Alamo could have used some of their lethal attackers they had on the bench, they chose to leave Kaia in all the way around and save some subs. This proved to be pivotal in their close match against AZ Storm. She showed that she is more than capable of producing in both positions.
Alamo has more amazing players on their roster like Elly Stewart Elly Stewart 6'0" | MB Cornerstone Christian | 2025 State TX , Ashtan Dodson, Tarah Yunes Tarah Yunes 6'0" | OH Tom C Clark | 2025 State TX , Ella Coleman, and Allison Butrum who are studs in their own right. They have some amazing parents who provide such a great family atmosphere for their program. And they have some amazing coaches like long time legendary coach Debra Gonzalez and recruiting director/assistant coach Phil Jackson who have been winning volleyball matches for a long time. This program is fantastic and they deserve every bit of this championship as they all have done it together as a true team all year long.
