It did not seem right to miss out on spotlighting spectacular athletes that had a stellar showing at the tournament just because the tournament was a little bit ago. With over 200 athletes in the 16 Open division, we have narrowed it down to 25 ALL-STARS. These 25 athletes proved themselves invaluable to their teams success over the three-day tournament.
Below are the six standout setters that made it on the 16U Open All-Star Team from the Emerald City Classic.
Lizzy Andrew l Athena 16 Gold l 2024 l 6’5” l MB l Ridgefield High School
Selected as the 16 Open Player of the Game, it is no surprise that Andrew also be included in the 16 Open All-Star team. As one of the starting middle blockers for Athena 16-1 team, she is a formidable force at the net. She has the ability to hit any set given to her, but loves to run the quick and bang it in front of the 10-foot line. With an insane blocking reach, balls do not get by her often, and teams have to work around her blocking presence at the net, or they will be in major trouble. Her play was critical in the team finishing first in 16 Open.
Sophie Danielson Sophie Danielson 6'2" | MB Auburn Riverside | 2024 State WA l NPJ Seattle 16 National l 2024 l 6’2” l MB/RS l Auburn Riverside High School
Danielson is one of the starting middle blockers for the NPJ 16-1 team. An athletic middle blocker, she is a major player in their offense. Running a multitude of plays, she is fast in transition and consistently makes herself available to the setter. She puts up a solid block and does a good job moving laterally to the pins.
Krista Kostoff l SIVBC 16 Thunder l 2024 l 6’0” l MB l Eastlake High School
Kostoff is a powerhouse middle blocker for the SIVBC 16-1 team. She is a consistent force at the net. Her setters tend to set her the quick, and like to establish her early on in the game. She is explosive in transition, making herself available.
Aubrey Tornow l Shockwave 16 l 2024 l 5’10” l MB l Hanford High School
Tornow was a difference maker for the Shockwave 16-1 team in the middle at ECC. She brings athleticism and power to the court. She makes herself available consistently in transition and proves she is terminal.
