Reese Dunkle Reese Dunkle 6'3" | MB Center Grove | 2025 State #31 Nation IN , 6-2, Center Grove
This is a no-brainer for me. Tall, long, lean and fast. Reese makes the smaller middles irrelevant and the big, lumbering middles look slower. She’s fast in transition, attacks and defends high, and is highly coachable. High school season might be a bit rough, what with the lack of experience around her, but her club seasons have been a great proving ground for her talents.
Harper Holden Harper Holden 6'0" | MB Greenfield Central | 2025 State IN , 6-0, Greenfield-Central
Way east of Indianapolis, Harper has been ‘holding’ down (sorry, not sorry) the middle position at G-C for some time. She plays bigger than her frame, is strong and fast, and can play multiple positions at will, as shown during Academy’s summer league last month. This is yet another kid that might not have the most successful high school season because of the lack of experience, but her club seasons have really made her better in a hurry.
Lilly Howell Lilly Howell 6'2" | MB Muncie Burris | 2025 State IN , 6-2, Muncie Burris
Can’t talk about any athletes in volleyball without having a Munciana/Delaware County kid on the list. Lilly is one of the rare over-six-feet bigs at Burris, and her Munciana training has taught her a faster transition. I like Lilly’s work ethic, willingness to fail in order to get better, and her overall strength. And she’s always getting stronger.
Ava Gutt Ava Gutt 5'11" | MB Hamilton Southeastern | 2025 State IN , 5-11, Hamilton Southeastern
Another bigger-than-she-looks middle, Ava gets up quick, defends her position well, and hits all of the shots off of two feet. I would not be surprised, considering her recent Munciana training, if she was seen as a right side as well, as her two-footed approach is springy. Ava is yet another fast and athletic middle from central Indiana, and her ceiling is limitless.
Stella Terpening Stella Terpening 6'2" | MB Westfield | 2025 State IN , 6-2, Westfield
A summer transfer to Circle City, Stella takes long strides and gets up quickly to terminate as an M2 regularly. Her transition is quick, she can defend pin-to-pin, and is focused on her improvement as one of the rare middles who’s a gym rat as well.
