Right now some of Minnesota’s top stats on Minnesota Volleyball Hub are coming from players of whom we previously haven’t heard. This is why we highly encourage uploading your roster, stats, schedule, and results on a platform like the Hub or Maxpreps. We found some really talented players, so let’s take a look!
Standing at 5’11, this senior is virtually unknown, and Kittson flies well below the radar. Johnson is working on her craft and has become a stronger athlete who has an impressive number of solo blocks. Johnson has been a steady force and a very dependable defensive piece for Kittson.
Wagner is spark plug and shouldn’t be overlooked. She has quick reflexes and a knack for getting a hand on the hard driven attack. Wagner is not afraid to throw herself to keep the play alive. She is competitive and aggressive on the court, which has led to her recording 166 digs and 15 aces so far this season. Wagner is a strong defender with a consistent foundation, and I’m surprised she’s been flying under the radar as long as she has.
Schwichtenberg is a talented and smooth distributor who is a valuable key to her team. So far this season, she has 37 aces as she presents issues for the opposing serve-receive. Schwichtenberg moves the ball quickly from pin to pin and can connect with her middles on a number of different routes and tempos.
Turner is a firecracker. She runs a 5-1 and can take care of the tight pass but does a really nice job connecting with her middles. Turner moves quickly across the court and isn’t afraid to hit the floor to keep the play alive. She’s already recorded 336 assists, 65 digs, and 34 kills. Turner is consistent with her setting and makes good choices in set selection. She will be a player to watch over the next few years.
Tool is another potent middle blocker who should not be overlooked. She has a pretty solid swing and is consistently hitting over her opponents. Standing at 6’0, Tool has a big approach, and she doesn’t let the 3 ball get past her before making contact. The junior has tallied 76 kills and 46 blocks so far this season. Tool is a rising player whose physical skills are still developing, but her ceiling is high.
This freshman is one that you will want to keep tabs on. Affeldt is fundamentally sound, quick, attentive, and accurate. This season so far she has been terrorizing passers with her serve. Affeldt has 37 aces, 55 digs, and 33 kills so far this season. She’s finding her groove in high school volleyball and will just get better as she perfects her craft.
