You wouldn’t know Fandel is one of the youngest players on the floor without looking at a roster. The all-court player hammers it with excellent rise and precision from the outside. She also excels in the middle and defends the net well. Those traits would make her an excellent player, but she stands out in the back and boasts a nasty serve as well. Colleges need to get in now.
At 6-4 with incredibly long arms, Ivester stands out. It doesn’t take long watching her to figure out why Nebraska-Omaha scooped her up. She represents an imposing two-way player in the middle, slamming down un-returnable hits and rejecting attempts from the other side of the net. She moves well and offers up a solid serve.
Anna Shoger
Anna Shoger
A Xavier team loaded with outstanding hitters needs someone to set it up. That’s where Shoger comes in. The senior setter puts the ball where her teammates can use it at a high rate. She performs well in the back row and offers a solid serve. Shoger also aids her squad at the net defensively and is an impressive all-around player.
Ava Turner
Ava Turner
A multi-sport athlete, Turner casts an imposing figure at the net. She aggressively attacks balls and swings with authority. Defensively, she forces opponents to go around her, helping keep her team in system.
Jacey Miller
Jacey Miller
Miller makes up for her lack of height on the outside with outstanding jumping ability, timing and power. She’s an all-court player who helps defensively at the net and in the back row. A clear team leader, Miller picks up her teammates with great energy and engagement.
Maggie Lueck
Maggie Lueck
Lueck faced the heat via the heavy hitters from Cedar Rapids Xavier on this night and impressed with how well she handled it. It’s one thing to settle the dig. It’s another to deliver a usable pass. She does both well. She organizes the system nicely and can serve it.
One of the better sophomores in the state, Ray performs like a veteran despite her relative inexperience on the high school level. The lefty fires off serves with movement and pace. She sets up teammates where they can deliver and disguises where she’s delivering the ball with expertise that puts the defense on its heals. The arrow is pointing up here.
