Texas High School Spotlight – Prestonwood Christian Academy

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Now that the high school season is well underway, we are starting our series of articles on those teams who have been lighting up the stat sheets and scoreboards.&nbsp; We will be highlighting a few teams that have a chance to do something very special this year if it all works out.&nbsp; Today we bring our attention to Prestonwood Christian Academy out of District 1 in TAPPS 6A.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Lady Lions are currently 23-1 on the year and looking super dominant. &nbsp;This team is stacked in every position and has tons of future division one college recruits on their roster.&nbsp; I was lucky enough to see them in person at the Volleypalooza tourney a few weeks ago and they put on a show as they came out as the runner up in the prestigious event.&nbsp; We have written about some of these players before and here is a little from our recent articles about them if you need to remember who they are:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='142201' first='Jadyn' last='Livings']&nbsp;[2024] 6-1 Outside (HS: Prestonwood Christian/Club: [program_tooltip program_id='431308' first='Texas' last='Advantage']/ Verbal: Uncommitted)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"align":"right","id":224991,"width":178,"height":216,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"none"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image alignright size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pd/uploads/2022/09/Jadyn-Livings-serving-scaled-e1662757686998-842x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-224991" width="178" height="216"/></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jadyn is currently listed as the 5^th&nbsp;best overall prospect according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings.&nbsp; She is a talented pin hitter from Prestonwood Christian High School and the famed [program_tooltip program_id='431308' first='Texas' last='Advantage'] volleyball program.&nbsp; This young lady has been groomed for success on the volleyball court and every match she plays in just further solidifies her ranking.&nbsp; At Volleypalooza she was stellar as she played amazing defense and wowed the crowd with some hellacious hits from multiple locations.&nbsp; She is a kill waiting to happen from anywhere on the court and they are able to set her in the back row on purpose.&nbsp; I'm not sure this young lady knows how to lose as she always he is ready to face tough competition and bring her “A” game.&nbsp; She has been one of the premier volleyball players in the state since she started playing. I love how she is ready for the ball at all times and doesn't get rattled during tense moments. Her team knows they can count on her to be a standout for them in different ways. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='124104' first='Mikala' last='Young']&nbsp;[2024] 6-0 Outside&nbsp; (HS: Prestonwood Christian/Club: [program_tooltip program_id='431308' first='Texas' last='Advantage']/Verbal: Uncommitted)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"align":"left","id":224993,"width":170,"height":240,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"none"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image alignleft size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pd/uploads/2022/09/Mikala-Young-Hitting-scaled-e1662757776520-727x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-224993" width="170" height="240"/></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Mikala is currently ranked as the 15^th&nbsp;best overall prospect and the 6^th&nbsp;best left side pin hitter in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings.&nbsp; She plays at Prestonwood Christian High School and the famed [program_tooltip program_id='431308' first='Texas' last='Advantage'] volleyball program.&nbsp; I have written about her many times and I still smile when I mention her name because of how she plays the game.&nbsp; She is a coach's dream because of how hard she goes after each rep.&nbsp; She has a very high motor, which helps her on both the offensive and defensive end.&nbsp; Having a player like Mikala on the court at all times guarantees your team will always have a fighting chance to keep the ball in play and score.&nbsp; This kid has a strong upper body and can unload fury on opponents, but she also has a variety of shots that she deploys to score.&nbsp; Her leadership during tough moments is what truly stands out to me when I watch her compete. She has a never say die attitude that is very contagious to her teammates. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='181296' first='Macaria' last='Spears']&nbsp;[2025] 6-2 Outside (HS: Prestonwood Christian/Club: [program_tooltip program_id='431308' first='Texas' last='Advantage'] Volleyball/Verbal: Uncommitted)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"align":"right","id":224994,"width":185,"height":220,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"none"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image alignright size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pd/uploads/2022/09/Macaria-Spears-serving-best-scaled-e1662757875863-862x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-224994" width="185" height="220"/></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Macaria is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because she just transferred and I have not updated the list with her.&nbsp; She will not only be on it but will challenge for one of the top spots.&nbsp; She stars on the pins for Prestonwood and will play for the awesome [program_tooltip program_id='431308' first='Texas' last='Advantage'] Volleyball program again as she did when she was younger.&nbsp; The word dynamic doesn't even begin to describe her game well enough.&nbsp; She is already on the roster for our USA U19 program and has a great chance to make an Olympic roster in the future.&nbsp; It was my first time to see her on the volleyball court in person and she was super effective from the offensive end.&nbsp; Her arm swing is very electric and she can move the ball around with ease to any location on the court.&nbsp; If you have not seen her in action yet, I suggest you stop by one of their matches as she will steal the show.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Any team would be thrilled to have only those studs.&nbsp; In the wise words of awesome late night infomercials…..”but wait…there's MORE!”&nbsp; Other notable standouts from this awesome roster are recent transfer and amazing junior middle [player_tooltip player_id='177529' first='Kennedy' last='Washington'] (ranked as the 22^nd best player in her grad class) who runs one of the best and most dangerous (for her opponents) slides I have ever seen.&nbsp; The one who runs the show is setter [player_tooltip player_id='124130' first='Camille' last='Edwards'] (ranked as the 23^rd best player in her grad class).&nbsp; She was dishing some amazing dimes to all of her hitters when I watched.&nbsp; Super sophomore libero [player_tooltip player_id='180174' first='Gillian' last='Pitts'] (ranked as the 10^th best libero in her grad class) kept everything in system for the Lions.&nbsp; Another super stud sophomore is [player_tooltip player_id='180178' first='Taylor' last='Cook'] (ranked as the 8^th best player in her grad class) helps run a 6-2 offense and is stellar in delivering perfectly placed balls to her hitters.&nbsp; They are the front-runners in TAPPS 6A so far and I don't see anyone taking them down.&nbsp; They have what it takes to cruise to a State Championship.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Stay tuned for more articles on your favorite athletes.&nbsp; If you have anyone you think we should watch out for, please shoot me an email with some info at <a href="mailto:nov8vb@yahoo.com">nov8vb@yahoo.com</a>.&nbsp; Also don't forget to help these kids get more exposure by sharing our stories with your friends.&nbsp; Help us help them by simply retweeting on Twitter or sharing on Facebook.&nbsp; Thanks for following Texas Family!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
