<p>Now that the high school season is well underway, we are starting our series of articles on those teams who have been lighting up the stat sheets and scoreboards. We will be highlighting a few teams that have a chance to do something very special this year if it all works out. Today we bring our attention to the Wakeland Woverines out of District 9-5A.</p>

<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>The Lady Wolverines are currently 19-4 overall and a perfect 5-0 in district so far on the young season. They have solid contributors at every position and it would be tough to find a more balanced team offensively and defensively. They are one of our picks to go very far this season in 5A. We have written about some of these players before and here is a little from our recent articles about them if you need to remember who they are:</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='141128' first='Hannah' last='Pfiffner'] [2023] 6-2 Middle/Right Side (HS: Wakeland/Club: [program_tooltip program_id='431308' first='Texas' last='Advantage'] Volleyball/Verbal: Oklahoma)</strong></p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Hannah is currently listed as the 26th best overall prospect according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. Hannah plays for Wakeland High School and also for [program_tooltip program_id='431308' first='Texas' last='Advantage'] Volleyball out of the North Texas region. We have written about this dynamo quite a few times over the past few years and every word has been warranted. She continues to be one of the best at her position year in and year out. Wakeland is the lucky recipient of her domination at the net. She is leading the team in kills, hitting efficiency, and second in blocks for the Wolverines. Hannah will not be denied in her senior season if she has anything to say about it. The way she is using her wealth of experience for her squad is admirable. The Oklahoma commit is having one heck of a senior year and we will stay watching as they embark on a solid run through district and onto the playoffs as a top contender for the crown. </p>

<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='178685' first='Jessica' last='Jones'] [2024] 6-2 Middle (HS: Wakeland/Club: Drive Nation/Verbal: LSU)</strong></p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Jessica is currently listed as the 31st best overall prospect in the 2024 class according to the Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays at Wakeland High School and also club for Drive Nation this coming season. I was able to watch her a few times this past club season and she was very impressive in all aspects of the game. She is a prolific scorer out of the middle at multiple routes and a superb blocker also. The LSU commit brings a physicality that compliments her teammates well. She is one of the leaders on the team in many categories and they will look to her presence at the net during the playoffs. I love how she rises up so effortlessly off of the ground to unleash bombs on the opponent. She has a unique ability to hit fast tempo shots around the block. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='141134' first='Audrey' last='Clark'] [2023] 5-10 Setter (HS: Wakeland/Club: [program_tooltip program_id='431308' first='Texas' last='Advantage'] Volleyball/Verbal: Creighton)</strong></p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Miss Clark is listed as the 32nd best overall prospect and 6th best setter according to the 2023 Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. Audrey plays for Wakeland High School and the famous [program_tooltip program_id='431308' first='Texas' last='Advantage'] Volleyball program. She has moved up our state rankings a few times due to her production on the court during the club seasons and it has not stopped during the high school season either. She is using that experience to provide a lot of leadership to her squad. The younger players on this team will get so much from the way she works and leads an offense. There is not a set that she cannot hit the bullseye over and over. She leads the team in assists and will be in the running for both district and state awards once the season is over. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Other notable players for this awesome team are senior libero [player_tooltip player_id='141122' first='Savannah' last='Ivie'] who is a ball control expert in both serve receive and defense. She leads the team in digs for a reason. Super sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='180162' first='Sarah' last='Pfiffner'] has been a phenomenal second setter for the Wolverines. Senior outside hitter Elyse Niemann has been stellar on the pins as she is second on the team in kills. Her offense will be valued as the setters look to spread the ball around and keep the opposition on its heels with who to stop. This team is poised for a solid run at the UIL State Playoffs and we expect them to be one of the teams to beat in the end.</p>
