A 32-team event that included nine of the 10 Miss Volleyball finalists and dozens of future Division 1 college players had highlight-reel play all day long in Pontiac.
Of the amazing crop, 12 players were selected to be part of the All-Tournament Team. Here’s the dozen that managed to raise their game to the very top.
Rowan Cebulski, OH Grand Rapids Christian
GRC knew it needed a hitter to step up on the outside this season and Cebulski has been it. On Saturday, she was not shy about bringing the heat to opposing blockers. She came through with a number of big finishes, including many against Dakota’s big block in bracket play. Cebulski was definitely a name that caught a lot of new attention on Saturday.
Kalliann Cook Kalliann Cook 5'5" | DS/L Birch Run | 2023 State MI , L/DS Birch Run
Cook has always been a widely-respected libero and Saturday did nothing to change that. Birch Run was heavily outsized by most of their opponents on Saturday, but the Panthers still held their own due to their defensively play. Cook was all over the floor, keeping her team in points with dig after dig.
Jessica Costlow Jessica Costlow 5'11" | OH SMCC | 2025 State #142 Nation MI , OH SMCC
Costlow is a real gamer. The sophomore doesn’t have the length of many of the hitters she was up against on Saturday, but she can still match most in terms of velocity on her attacks. But, she adds in a high court IQ, mixing up speeds and shot angles to finish points. Her blocking is also undervalued, as is her improving defensive play in the back row.
Campbell Flynn Campbell Flynn 6'2" | S Mercy | 2025 State #4 Nation MI , S/RS Mercy
Flynn looked very smooth on the floor Saturday. Working as part of a 2-setter system, the sophomore was able to showcase her complete skillset against the best. Her sets always in pinpoint locations, and her attacks can compete with anyone’s in the state.
Hailey Green Hailey Green 5'1" | DS/L North Branch | 2024 State MI , L/DS North Branch
North Branch is a mentally-strong team that is very technically sound. You don’t see the Broncos wilt under pressure and Green is a big reason why. The junior libero is solid as a rock in the back row. She went up against some of the best hitters in the country on Saturday, and made some incredible digs. She didn’t let a hitter beat her twice with the same shot.
Kaitlyn Hoffman Kaitlyn Hoffman 5'8" | DS/L Novi | 2023 State #81 Nation MI , OH/DS Novi
Hoffman can get lost in the shuffle of giants at Beast of the East, but then her play quickly reminds you of how good she is. Novi is a technically sound team that can win long rallies, and that’s due to the steady defensive play of a player like Hoffman. Her athleticism is hard to match in a back row, but also allows her to dial up some thunderous swings at the net. The senior is a complete player.
Kennedy Louisell Kennedy Louisell 6'0" | OH Forest Hills Northern | 2023 State #140 Nation MI , OH Forest Hills Northern
Louisell was in full command of the FHN squad on Saturday and she continued to live up to her hype. The senior was putting down unstoppable swings against each opponent, but also putting up a tireless effort defensively with her blocking and passing. Throughout a long day of play, you never saw Louisell’s speed or power decrease on the floor.
Remi Madison Remi Madison 5'9" | OH Grand Blanc | 2023 State MI , OH Grand Blanc
Madison did her part to keep Grand Blanc in the mix with the competition. She’s got very good instincts on the floor and is as valuable to her team as anyone in the state. Madison’s power swing measured up with nearly anyone else in Pontiac on Saturday.
Harper Murray Harper Murray 6'2" | OH Skyline | 2023 State #2 Nation MI , OH Skyline
Murray was pretty much a shoe-in for the All-Tournament team. If you hear an “ooohhh” or an “ahhhh” in the distance, it was likely one of Murray’s swings. What was also noticeable on Saturday was her efforts to help her team vocally. Murray was in command of huddles and directing her teammates on the floor to get them in position to succeed. She has a real feel for the game and her teammates respond well to her direction.
Carley Piercefield Carley Piercefield 5'4" | DS/L Lakewood | 2024 State #90 Nation MI , L/DS Lakewood
Lakewood continues to impress despite having to make some big adjustments to its offense this year. While the offense has continued to improve, the defense has always been rock solid. Piercefield is a confident and calm player in the back row that spent years taking swings in practice from the O’Gorman sisters. The junior is as battle-tested as they come, and it shows.
Abigail Reck Abigail Reck 6'2" | MB Northville | 2023 State #74 Nation MI , OH Northville
The Beast of the East champions didn’t have to rely heavily on Reck throughout the day, but the senior sure came through in the biggest moments. Anytime the Mustangs found themselves in a tight set, Reck was there to use her powerful attacks to pull them through. Her blocking was also tough for a lot of opposing hitters to deal with. Reck has developed into a true six-rotation player despite being one of the best middles in the nation.
Ava Sarafa Ava Sarafa 6'0" | S Marian | 2023 State #14 Nation MI , S Marian
Sarafa has established a reputation as one of the best setters in the country for the Class of 2023, and that was driven home on Saturday. Sarafa lost two senior hitters to injury on the day, yet Marian still put together a run to the finals. She brought the best out teammates that had to step up for the Mustangs. The senior also was tireless with her blocking and ramped up her aggression offensively to call her own number.
