Here at PrepDig, we are committed to covering and promoting as many prospects as possible, from the most popular names to the hidden gems that typically abound at the Lone Star State and during the high school season we’re also doing it by featuring the teams they play at.
Every time we’re at the gym, we take the time to give a good look at the teams on the court and we’ll try to feature as many as possible here in this space. Today’s highlighted team are the Jordan Warriors.
The Squad
A new program in the area, the Warriors moved up to division 6A with most of their core from last season as they had no seniors – setter Alexys James, who transferred to Fulshear, is the only departure. The strong core formed by Ella Folse Ella Folse 6'1" | OH Jordan | 2023 State TX , the Hoss sisters Leah and Abby and Ella Koch just continues to get better.
The powerful and skilled outside hitter is Jordan’s main offensive piece, leading the Warriors in basically every aspect of the game. Her offense is extremely prolific as, besides her 6’1″ frame, Folse is also very technical and, most importantly, makes very good decisions every time she’s up there ready to hit. She’s also a strong contributor on the backcourt with her great floater and impressive consistency with her passing and defense.
If Folse is Jordan’s technical leader, it’s fair to say Hoss leads the Warriors from an emotional standpoint. Very loud on the court, the libero never stops encouraging her teammates and brings positive energy to the court. She’s excellent technically too, impressive with her pinpoint accuracy when passing and her ability to dig balls. Hoss is also very focused and is often in the right spot. She’s also a great hustler and works hard for every point.
Highlights
Abby’s younger sister Leah is Jordan’s starting setter and another important piece of the team. Extremely technical, she’s very accurate with her locations and does a great job with her ball distribution even if the Warriors have a clear primary option in Folse. She’s also very creative and never misses an opportunity to try to score on a setter dump. Leah is also a very efficient server and can play good defense.
Highlights
Damisi Osibodu
Damisi Osibodu
Osibodu is probably Jordan’s most physical player. Although her game is still developing, she’s already capable of causing some impact on matches with her great physical tools, which include excellent jumping and long arms. Her offense is currently based on her very high contact point and will get a lot better when she improves her timing and learns to hit different sets. When it comes to blocking, Osibodu is also impactful because of her big presence at the net.
A versatile player who can help on the right or the middle, O’Shay has been bringing great value for Jordan in her sophomore season. She has great size at 6’1″ and her versatility helps her on offense as she can hit the slide set or a higher set on the right with the same power and efficiency. Her blocking is also very good when it comes to reach, technique and timing.
