Guilherme Torres | Prep Dig Scout
The senior right side showed her best game in the second half of the match and was instrumental in the team’s comeback. O’Shay had somewhat of a quiet start but started getting more confident and asking for the ball as the match developed and was an important offensive weapon for her team, especially because of her ability to hit the slide set. She was on fire at the end of the match and scored nearly every Jordan point int heir final run, with strong and well-placed swings and a stuff block. Her leadership also takes Jordan a long way because she makes sure to keep her teammates energized and confident on the court.

Much of Jordan’s game flowed through the right side of the net, with Ribakovs and O’Shay. The senior right side played just the three front row rotations, but made a major impact on the team’s play, especially on the offensive side of the game. Very long and powerful, O’Shay was very effective with her swings, finding ways to beat the blockers, and displayed great variation, hitting different sets – she was unstoppable hitting the slide. The right side also did a solid job with her blocking.

O’Shay was an important piece for Jordan during the event and will continue to be during the season with her ability to bring scoring and blocking to the game. She has excellent offensive potential, combining length, power and the ability to hit higher or quicker sets thanks to her background as a middle. Her blocking is also a factor as she plays aggressively above the net and gets in the way of opposing hitters. O’Shay reads the game very well defensively and on multiple occasions came closer to the center of the net to help her team block swings from opposing middles.

O’Shay is another player from the Katy area that’s only getting better and she had a chance to show it during the Top 250 Expo. Her size has always been an asset, but know her offense is more potent and consistent and she’s developed the ability to hit different sets too. It was also easy to see how much the technical improvement positively affected O’Shay’s mental strength and she looks much more confident on the court now and was repeatedly calling for the ball during scrimmages.
