Prep Dig To Host “Senior Day” at Battle at the Bay
For people outside the volleyball world, explaining club volleyball to people is a little bit difficult.
“So you join this team of strangers from other schools, spend countless hours together, play in convention centers with up to 80 courts, and you do this almost every weekend?”
Yep – and we love it.
For us at Prep Dig, we know the behind the scenes of club volleyball. We know the sacrifices these athletes and families make when it comes to club volleyball. For those playing 18s, many of them will be playing their final club season before they head off to college. A lot of them will lace up for a new team, but for most of them it will be a while before they get a chance to play in front of friends and family.
2022 was the inaugural year of Battle at the Bay held at the new Resch Expo Center across from Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. We added a small boost that consisted of a photo booth with props, but more importantly monitors of the Seniors/18s who were set to play at the next level in their college shirt. For our Prep Dig Scouts, we’ve been covering since these athletes since they were 15 years old, and we find it only fitting that we host our own Prep Dig Senior Day.
We have plenty of room for a 17/18 Club and 17/18 Open field April 22-23 which is one week prior to USAV 18 Nationals located in Columbus, Ohio the following week. Teams will be encouraged to email chris@prepdig.com where we will be collecting Senior pictures of the athletes in their college shirt where we will also blend in some pictures of what we’ve taken over the course of their career. Parents of the teams, we encourage you to provide your own festivities for your seniors as this could be the last time they will be playing close to home.
If athletes are playing their 18s year, they’ve been through it all when it comes to club volleyball. The highs, lows, everything in between. VC United out of Rockford, Illinois used this event as a season ending event for their team and when they finished their last point, it was hard not to feel the emotion of their teams with a mix of tears. A celebration of a major chapter of high school/club volleyball, but at the end of all the reps at the volleyball court are the relationships formed inbetween.
We look forward to covering all teams, and would love to celebrate the Senior Class of 2023 the weekend of April 22-23 in Green Bay at Battle at the Bay. Registration is open on AES.
