Plenty of teams are jockeying for position in October to gain some momentum heading into the postseason. These Friday-Saturday tournaments are a great chance to see teams from out of the area, but also gain a “one up” factor when it comes to seeding. I will be in attendance at Huntley on Friday and the Scholastic Cup at the Great Lakes Center on Saturday. Here is a look at who to watch in Huntley this weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='225759' first='Allyson' last='Panzloff'] - Huntley - Class of 2023 - Committed to Brown

[player_tooltip player_id='135959' first='Morgan' last='Jones'] - Huntley - Class of 2024 - Committed to Indiana

[player_tooltip player_id='207810' first='Georgia' last='Watson'] - Huntley - Class of 2025

[player_tooltip player_id='225754' first='Avary' last='DeBlieck'] - Huntley - Class of 2023 - Committed to Miami

This is a scary attacking combination for Huntley, starting with Panzloff who is a long, athletic, physical pin. She hits a heavy ball which makes things difficult for the other side of the net to keep in system. [player_tooltip player_id='135959' first='Morgan' last='Jones'] is the lightning behind the thunder of Panzloff where she is a major high flyer, she can hit over the block with a variety of angles to score points. She gave her verbal to head to the Big Ten and play for Indiana late this summer. [player_tooltip player_id='225754' first='Avary' last='DeBlieck'] will head to the ACC to play for Miami, she has a really solid skill set as a middle where she has the touch and physicality, but also the quickness to go from pin to pin. [player_tooltip player_id='207810' first='Georgia' last='Watson'] is definitely one to star in the UA among 2025 profiles. At 6'3, Watson can play out of the middle or the pin where she is a major threat in the front show. These athletes have played all over Chicagoland for club with Panzloff and Watson playing at [program_tooltip program_id='432009' first='Sky' last='High'], Jones at [program_tooltip program_id='431567' first='Adversity' last=''], and Watson playing for Mission.

[player_tooltip player_id='138661' first='Jessica' last='Horwath'] - Barrington - Class of 2023 - Committed to Arizona (Beach)

Horwath is one of the more explosive and exciting players in the state where she is also one of the top beach players where she will continue her career at Arizona. On the hardcourt, Horwath is averaging over four kills per set, nearing the 200 kill mark and over 100 digs on the season. She is automatic in serve receive and is one of those players who is involved in every play. Her intangibles are extremely high where she knows how to get her team hyped. The Fillies are currently sitting at 20-1 with their lone loss coming to Huntley on September 21.

[player_tooltip player_id='136615' first='Bree' last='Messenger'] - Belvidere North - Class of 2024

Messenger is extremely explosive for Belvidere North who is coming off a huge season in 2021. Despite plenty of D1 athletes lost to graduation, this squad is back with a 16-4 record. Messenger has been a key player for [program_tooltip program_id='429175' first='VC' last='United'] out of Rockford where she can swing on the pin or can be a prospect at the next level as a DS/Libero. She has a complete, all around game where she knows how to score points in a variety of ways and can handle a high volume of serve receive.

[player_tooltip player_id='225758' first='Ireland' last='Henry'] - Belvidere North - Class of 2024 - Committed to Loyola-Chicago

Henry has plenty of experience, including being a libero for North when they were the 2021 state runner up. Another [program_tooltip program_id='429175' first='VC' last='United'] athlete, Henry commands the backrow and has a major presence on the court. She knows how to get her team in system and can anticipate what's next coming from the other side of the net. She will stay local and continue her career at Loyola-Chicago.

Kaitlyn Mullen - Marian Central Catholic - Class of 2023

Mullen is long, athletic, and a dynamic left handed setter for Marian Central Catholic. When she jump sets, the other side of the net has to respect what she can do offensively. She will be the one running the show. One of her favorite targets on her team is junior [player_tooltip player_id='135967' first='Ella' last='Conlon'] who can score from any position in the front row.

[player_tooltip player_id='311372' first='Mykaela' last='Wallen'] - Crystal Lake Central - Class of 2025

Gabbie Anderson - Crystal Lake Central - Class of 2025

Wallen is going to be really key for Crystal Lake Central attacking from the pin where Gabbie Anderson will be the one quarterbacking the offense. The Tigers are accustomed to competing against high level competition seeing Huntley multiple time as well as Barrington and will look to get back on track this weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='138664' first='Maggie' last='Duyos'] - Huntley - Class of 2023 - Austin Peay (Title Photo)

Duyos is the one who runs the show for a high powered Huntley offense. She quick and efficient on her feet where she can get her hands on a lot of passes you'd think are heading out of system, but with Duyos, she just finds a way. There is plenty of familiarity between Huntley and Barrington with plenty of high school matchups, but also a lot of these athletes playing with each other during club ball. It could be another Huntley/Barrington matchup in the title game unless someone else is ready to play the spoiler.

[player_tooltip player_id='138665' first='Kylie' last='Schulze'] - Woodstock North - Class of 2023 - Committed to Loyola-Chicago

There is definitely a [program_tooltip program_id='429175' first='VC' last='United'] vibe to this tournament as well as [program_tooltip program_id='432009' first='Sky' last='High'], Mission, and other Northern Illinois clubs. Schulze has been around forever where she is one of the top high IQ players in the state. She can set, swing, defend, do it all - which is exactly what she is doing for Woodstock North. She is the Queen of Triple-Doubles meaning double digits in three categories of statistics. Right now she has over 300 assists and over 100 kills and digs. She will join club teammate, [player_tooltip player_id='225758' first='Ireland' last='Henry'] (Belvidere North), heading to Loyola-Chicago. One of Schulze's favorite targets is fellow senior, Kaitlyn Wickersheim who is averaging nearly four kills per set. Woodstock North is currently ranked in the top ten of Class 3A teams and will be a threat to get some hardware and this tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='136595' first='Jenna' last='Meitzler'] - Barrington - Class of 2024

Meitzler is one of the top available setters out of the Class of 2024 from Illinois. She has the physicality and size to be a presence at the net to have a huge impact offensively and defensively. Throughout watching Meitzler the past year at the high school and club level, she just has a way of making every touch positive for her team. She plays with high IQ, has a consistent tempo to all of her attackers and there's a huge reason why her teams always have success when she's on the court.
