This group is not only talented but extremely important pieces in the communication and leadership roles for their squads. As we get closer to the first ratings for the class of 2024, keep an eye out for where these players land.
Halle Reiter Halle Reiter 5'4" | DS/L Camas | 2024 State #138 Nation WA | Camas | 2024 | Libero | OJVA
Reiter proved to be one of the top liberos on both weekends of the state tournament and improved over the year before when she had an excellent run. Against Puyallup, she covered her hitters versus the big Viking block and used her speed to get to tough second balls and give the Papermakers a chance in transition. Expect her to be back with the rest of her Cams team next season.
Jillian Davis Jillian Davis 5'10" | OH Mt. Spokane | 2024 State WA | Mt. Spokane | 2024 | Outside | Renovators
Davis has had tremendous growth as an attacker and overall player this school season. Mt. Spokane had to rely on her as a steady point-scoring option all year, and some of her best shotmaking came at the state tournament. The hard-line has always been her preferred shot, but she showed an accurate push to the corner, good angle work, and a soft tip straight down the outsides blocker’s back. Davis’s defensive energy was cranked up, she made several sprawling digs for the Wildcats, saving crucial points.
Lainey Kimball Lainey Kimball 5'10" | OH Nooksack Valley | 2024 State WA | Nooksack Valley | 2024 | Outside |
The whole Nooksack Valley team is athletic and competitive, and Kimball personifies their never quit attitude. She posted big numbers, in the trophy game she went off with a double-double, 18 kills and 20 digs. It was a clutch performance in a big spot, and she used her good hops and power to slam shots off of blocks,
Ali Millspaugh Ali Millspaugh 5'11" | MB Prairie | 2024 State WA | Mark Morris| 2024| Middle| Aspire NW
Millspaugh is a very smart and dynamic scoring middle. Mark Morris will bring her swooping in from the back row and set her accurately on a 3 to let her move the ball around the block. She showed a sweeping tip, a soft tip to the “4” and the hammer when she had the chance. Her accuracy was impressive, she landed several shots just inside/on the line at 10 feet, making it very tough on the defenders.
Ashley Shumate Ashley Shumate 6'3" | OH Lynden | 2024 State WA | Lynden| 2024| Outside| SIVA
The Biola commit was hard to handle for Lion’s opponents. She has a heavy swing, and Lynden is smart in moving her around so it’s not always just used at the pin. Bringing her down the middle to get a 1-1 opportunity was particularly effective. Lynden brought home the 5th place trophy, and the combination of Shumate and outstanding setter Grace Rice Grace Rice 5'8" | S Lynden | 2024 State WA will be back for more next season.
