Continue ReadingThe 2022 High School season has been amazing so far! Along with our readers, we have been on pins and needles watching teams battle all season long. There have been some amazing tournaments and great district battles. We have been talking to coaches, reading tons of stats, and getting lots of video submissions from parents and players regarding how everyone has fared over the course of the season. As we are now into the playoffs, we will be discussing some players who are being nominated for our Prep Dig Texas All-State Awards. Our end-of-season awards are going to be different because we are going to consider all divisions/conferences together and pick the best of the best. The Liberos we will be discussing have been tearing it up and proving themselves all season long with some amazing statistics. Let’s meet some of the nominees:
Makenna Dillow [2023] 5-9 Libero (HS: Azle/Club: TX Pistols/ Verbal: Uncommitted)
Makenna is an unranked prospect in the 2023 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays for Azle High School and also club for Texas Pistols. She has tallied 1254 service receptions and 1197 digs assists during her senior season, which is the most amongst seniors in all of Texas. This kind of production is due to a lot of factors, but most importantly her footwork is elite. She is always in a great position to play the ball whether it is in serve receive or defense. I like how she stays on the balls of her feet and they stay very balanced at the point of contact. Miss Dillow is someone who can transform the ball control on any team she plays on. Please congratulate her on being nominated for an All-State award.
Molly Tuozzo Molly Tuozzo 5'7" | DS/L The Woodlands | 2023 State #38 Nation TX [2023] 5-7 Libero (HS: The Woodlands/Club: Houston Skyline/Verbal: Kentucky)
Molly is currently ranked as the 113th best overall and 10th best libero prospect in the 2023 class in the entire state of Texas. She plays at The Woodlands High School and also club for the nationally recognized Houston Skyline program. Miss Tuozzo’s tally currently sits at 705 receptions and 1013 digs on the year. There is a reason Kentucky chose her to be on their roster next season. Her overall ball control has proven to be one of the main reasons why her team has a 40-9 overall record and 15-1 district record. We are very high on her abilities as a back row floor general due to her continued production on the court. She has totally earned a nomination based off of what we have seen from her this season. Please congratulate her on being nominated for an All-State award.
Jenna McMichael Jenna McMichael 5'5" | DS/L Midlothian | 2023 State TX [2023] 5-5 Libero (HS: Midlothian/Club: Dallas Skyline/Verbal: Dallas Baptist University)
Jenna is currently ranked as the 83rd best overall prospect in the 2023 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She is a fantastic libero from Midlothian High School and also plays club for Dallas Skyline. This young lady has such a nose for the ball and continues to prove just how valuable she is on the court for any team she competes for. I love how hard she plays the game in the back row. Her total count of receptions stands at 686 while she also had 856 digs on the year. Her defensive range is one of the best in the nation in my opinion. Midlothian had a wonderful season with an overall record of 37-5 and a district record of 15-1 because of her play. She is able to read the play well before it happens so she can put herself in the best position to play the ball. Please congratulate her on being nominated for an All-State award.
