There have been some amazing tournaments and great district battles. We have been talking to coaches, reading tons of stats, and getting lots of video submissions from parents and players regarding how everyone has fared over the course of the season. As we are now into the playoffs, we will be discussing some players who are being nominated for our Prep Dig Texas All-State Awards. Our end-of-season awards are going to be different because we are going to consider all divisions/conferences together and pick the best of the best. The Liberos we will be discussing have been tearing it up and proving themselves all season long with some amazing statistics. Let’s meet some of the nominees:
Piper Mickenheim Piper Mickenheim 5'5" | DS/L Argyle | 2025 State TX [2025] 5-3 Libero (HS: Argyle/Club: Excel/ Verbal: Uncommitted)
Piper is an unranked prospect in the 2025 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but is on my watch list and should have no problem making the rankings when I update them soon. She plays for Argyle High School and also club for Excel. She has tallied 937 digs, which is the most amongst all sophomores in all of Texas. Piper also managed to tally 790 service receptions and also added 39 aces on the year. What I love about Miss Mickenheim is how she never gives up on a play and lays it all out on the court for her team. Her defensive range is amazing and she is super fast on the court. It is a fantastic weapon to have on the defensive side of the ball in the fact that setter dumps from the opposition just won’t fall if she is on the court. She just has a nose for the ball and is amazing at emergency techniques sprawling out of the ball and getting one hand on it to keep it in play. If you have not seen her play, stop by her court and enjoy the show! Please congratulate her on being nominated for an All-State award.
Mary Schirpik Mary Schirpik 5'5" | DS/L Rouse | 2025 State TX [2025] 5-5 Libero (HS: Rouse/Club: Austin Juniors/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Mary is currently ranked as the 48th best overall prospect in the 2025 class in the entire state of Texas. She plays at Rouse High School and also club for the nationally recognized Austin Juniors program. She has tallied 735 digs, 692 service receptions, and 45 aces on the year. This young lady is the real deal and has the technical abilities to be listed as one of the top liberos in the country if she stays on course. Everything about her form is on point. I love how she collapses on hard driven balls and has such a nice soft touch with her platform. Its like she has ball magnets in her arms because the ball just goes right to her every single time. She deserves to be nominated for her overall production on one of the best teams in the state. Please congratulate her on being nominated for an All-State award.
Misha Zuniga [2025] 5-5 Libero (HS: Birdville/Club: Texas Advantage /Verbal: Uncommitted)
Misha is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but will be ranked once I update them soon. She is a fantastic libero from Birdville High School and also plays club for the famed Texas Advantage Volleyball. Her sophomore season was one for the books as she had 819 digs, 862 service receptions, and also 46 aces on the year. Miss Zuniga is as talented as they come in the libero position. She has every tangible and intangible aspect that you would want in a top tier defender. Her ability to dig a ball doesn’t stop with her platform as she has hands like a setter and can dig the overhead ball with ease. She also does a great job of seeing the entire court when the setter digs the first contact and she has to step in during the out of system play to assist the attacker. The ball is always in an amazing position for the attacker to put some pace on the ball. Please congratulate her on being nominated for an All-State award.
