Here’s a look a some of the match’s standouts. I wrote about Mount Vernon earlier in the week, so please check out that writeup as I will highlight differs players in this piece:
Ellyson maximizes her talents on the court. She’s a supreme athlete who possesses an excellent vertical leap. When she reaches the apex of her jump, she swings with power that keeps defenses on their toes. She stays on the floor through the rotation because she holds up really well in the back row. In this contest, she produced 10 digs to go with two kills and a pair of service aces.
Don’t let her size fool you, Rolland plays big in the back row. The 5-foot-2 spark plug almost seems like she’s daring opponents to send the ball her way, where she can dig it out and deliver a usable pass on a consistent basis. She contributed eight digs in this match after accumulating 189 before the state tournament.
Schubert makes the Knights go. She’s a spectacular all-court performer. Her lefty swing rains down kills on her opponents with little they can do about it. She defends well at the net and in the back row. She’s a high-level athlete with an advanced skill set. She delivered 13 kills, 10 digs, a block and three services aces on this day.
Johnson led her team with 16 kills in this match, hitting an impressively efficient .519. She’s a powerful athlete with jumping ability that helps here stand out both ways at the net. She recorded one block in this match but rejected and altered plenty of others.
Ava’s younger sister showed she also belongs in the discussion of top players in the state. She handed out an impressive 45 assists with pinpoint setting. She’s fluid in her movements. That along with her quickness helps her show up in the right position most times. She added 12 digs, an assist and a service ace in this match.
Highlights
Another super sophomore, Dorsey is just scratching the service of what she can be. And she’s really good already. She makes up for a lack of prototypical hitter height and length with excellent athleticism. She skies in the air and her swing proves potent after she hammers it home. She adds to her strong net game with solid play in the back row. She contributed nine kills, 12 digs and a block in this match.
