Makenna Walhof
Makenna Walhof
Walhorf is a glue player for the Warriors. She chips in all over the court with a broad skill set. She covers a lot of territory with her agility and understands where she needs to be on any given play. In this match, she led Sioux Center with five blocks and ranked second with eight kills. She added four digs and a service ace.
Jansen is an imposing presence at the net with her length, long limbs and jumping ability. She sees the court well and swings with a purpose. She led the Warriors with 12 kills in that contest. She added three blocks, five digs and an assist.
Willow Bleeker
Willow Bleeker
Bleeker fuels the Warrior attack with her pinpoint passing and knack for finding the right hitter at the right time. She mixes up her sets well and finds the best position to deliver the ball. She’s athletic with quick reflexes. She handed out a match-high 29 assists on the day after racking up 725 heading into the state tournament. She added nine digs, four kills and an impressive six service aces in this contest.
Buysse saw her super sophomore season come to an end but not before showing she’s one of the top players in her class. In this match, she led the Comets in kills (9) and digs (14). She added a block. Buysse is a wonderful all-court performer who looks comfortable in any spot on the floor. She’s athletic and skilled with a very bright future.
Talent runs in the family, obviously. Brooklyn to Sophie Buysse is a lethal combination. The older sister is the driving force behind West Liberty’s success. She knows where her hitters like the ball and gets it there repeatedly. It’s rare to see her set one up off target. She recorded a team-high 25 assists in this match to go along with four digs and a kill. Her services will be missed next season.
Morales finished up a brilliant career with another trip to the state tournament. The diminutive dynamo stands tall in the back row with her knack for controlling swings headed her way. She’s cat quick and settles pace into accurate passes. She registered 12 digs and a service ace in this match. She came into state with 622 digs on the season.
