Besides congratulating the four division champions that were crowned on Saturday – Gunter (Division 3A), Randall (4A), Colleyville Heritage (5A) and Tompkins (6A) -, we’d also like to highlight the players that made those victories possible with their excellent performances on the biggest match of the season.
Rayanna Mauldin

Gunter got revenge on Bushland, the team that defeated them in last year’s Championship Match, sweeping their rivals to lift the trophy. Mauldin, who had been the team’s top player also in the semifinal round, put on another strong performance, leading the team to victory in Garland. The senior outside hitter had a complete performance, tallying 16 kills, seven digs and two blocks to earn the Championship Match MVP award.
Jordyn Gove

Gove was instrumental in Randall’s triumph to secure their second state title 12 years after the first one. The junior outside hitter was important to her team in a pair of different ways – with her strong production on the court and her great leadership. In the Championship Match against Aubrey, Gove played a major role in her team’s sweep by registering 12 kills, 15 digs and one block.
Morgan Howard

Colleyville Heritage thrived under the leadership and the guidance of senior setter Howard the entire season and it was no different in the Championship Match, where they topped Reedy 3-1 to claim the state title in their first State Tournament appearance. A national champion with her Dallas Skyline club team, Howard was perfect in the final, dishing out a whooping 51 assists while also producing 17 digs, three kills and two aces to help the Panthers succeed.
Dripping Springs’ star senior outside hitter came up big for the Lady Tigers and helped them stand at the top of the podium in Division 6A in their first season competing at this level. Despite the presence of other excellent offensive players, it was Plante who took up the scoring duties, ending the match with 14 kills (and a .444 hitting percentage). She also added four digs, three aces and two blocks.
