Here’s a look at some of the top standouts in the 2023 cycle:
The Northern Iowa commitment was named the outstanding player of the tournament for the 5A champion Lightning. She racked up 67 kills and 52 digs in three matches here. She added five assists, three blocks and two aces.
Kimm joined Hartman on the 5A all-tournament team for champion Liberty. She contributed 42 kills, 41 digs, four blocks, three assists and four aces in three matches here at XTream. She’s headed to St. Cloud State next season.
Highlights
Knowles made her one match at the state tournament count. She rolled up 28 kills and 15 digs with two blocks and an ace in a first-round loss to Hinton. She hit .286 in the match.
Vice completed a spectacular career by leading the defending state champion Spartans back to the title match. The Marquette basketball recruit piled up 38 kills, 51 digs and four blocks in three contests at XTream Arena.
Cline contributed 32 kills during her team’s three matches here at state. The Evansville commitment added 12 blocks, three assists and an ace during the run to the championship game.
Prep Dig’s top-ranked player in the ’23 class hammered 25 kills in her lone state match and final contest of her high school career. The Northern Iowa commitment added 17 digs, five blocks and an assist,
The South Dakota pledge balled out during her only match at state this year. She dished out 44 assists, 12 kills, 18 digs, two blocks and an ace.
A Tennessee Tech commitment, Schubert finished her prep career with a 3A state championship. During the run, she posted 52 kills, 38 digs, four aces and five blocks in being named captain of the 3A all-tournament team.
Winterfield will be heading to South Dakota State next season after winning a state championship during her final high school campaign. She rolled up 62 kills in three matches here. She added 35 digs, seven assists, two aces and three blocks.
Miller helped the Mustangs reach the semis where they lost to eventual state champion Davenport Assumption. The New Mexico recruit handed out 53 assist in two state matches. She chipped in 13 kills, 23 digs, five blocks and two aces.
Norton played a key role in the Wolverines returning to the 2A state title match. During her three matches here, she piled up 107 assists, eight kills, 24 digs, two aces and six blocks.
Jansen helped fourth-seeded Sioux Center reach the 3A title match with solid all-around play. The Augustana (SD) commitment accumulated 35 kills, 16 digs, four assists, seven blocks and an ace in three contests.

Maci Kadlec
Kadlec earned a spot on the 4A all-state tournament team with a strong performance for the champion Saints. She posted 41 kills, 32 digs, five aces, three blocks and two assists.
Meyer powered Western Dubuque to the state semifinals with superior defense and passing. She recorded 45 digs in two matches. She added five assists and an ace.
Lansing stood tall in the middle for the Bobcats. She contributed 23 kills and 10 blocks in earning all-tournament honors. She chipped in with five digs.
Gates and Union were knocked out in the 3A quarterfinals but she still left her mark. In her lone match, she rocked 29 kills with 12 digs, two blocks and an assist.

Bleeker earned all-tournament honors after helping the Warriors reach the 3A title match. She produced 92 assists with nine kills, 38 digs, 12 blocks and eight aces in three matches.
Abby VerBurg
Abby VerBurg
VerBurg stood at the forefront of the Wolfpack’s journey to the 2A title. The 6-footer racked up 70 kills in three contests. She added four blocks.
Wyatt led the Rebels to the 1A championship with her stellar play. In a trio of state matches, she hammered 71 kills and blocked six with 33 digs and three aces.
Smith helped the seventh-seeded Cougars upset No. 2 North Tama in the first round with 28 kills and 16 digs. In two contests here, she produced 38 kills, 26 digs, three assists and three aces.
