Small but mighty, Oakesdale repeated in the 1B ranks securing a third straight championship, while La Connor came up strong defeating Colfax for the title in the 2B championship. Mossyrock gave the Nighthawks from Oakesdale everything they could handle in the last set of the 1B final, Oakesdale managed to pull off a sweep, toughing out a 29-27 third-set victory. La Connor had to overcome a big, athletic Colfax team in 4 sets, with senior Ellie Marble Ellie Marble 6'0" | OH La Conner | 2023 State WA capping her awesome career with another state title before heading to Central Washington next year.
Genesis Torres
Genesis Torres
Torres was all over the court for Manson, the sophomore is part of a strong 2025 class which includes Camille Hutton who played well all season in the middle. She had a very good read of opponents’ offense and moved easily to pick up tips and shots to the corner. For a Manson team that went 21-2, the second-year player was never rattled in the serve pass game, a huge boost for a young group overall. The Trojans return nine players next year, expect to see them challenge for a title again.
Kendal Collins
Kendal Collins
Kalama ended their run at the SunDome with another state trophy to add to their collection. The versatile Collins is a huge contributor to the team’s 22-2 record, with both defeats only coming to the #3 and #2 state finishers. The middle/outside/right side can do everything well on the volleyball courts and is an intense competitor. The Chinooks relied on her to deliver the big kill when it was needed most, and Collins never hesitated to take a big swing. The excellent senior class included six players, one of the most successful classes ever for the Chinooks on the volleyball court.

Audrey Wellhausen
Audrey Wellhausen
Wellhausen has been posting big number her entire career for Mary Walker, and the Chargers have had a great run with her in the fold. Senior setter Macey Gines always managed to find her when the team needed it most, and Wellhausen had massive kills during the tournament. Her blocking and defense proved critical in an excellent 18-4 overall season. The Chargers are returning ten players for next season, including an outstanding eighth grader in Kaylin Gines.
Morgan Huizenga Morgan Huizenga 5'9" | OH La Connor | 2024 State WA
Morgan Huizenga Morgan Huizenga 5'9" | OH La Connor | 2024 State WA
The La Connor squad was on a mission this season, and Huizenga had an excellent tournament attacking at the SunDome. She was an excellent bookend to senior Ellie Marble Ellie Marble 6’0″ | OH La Conner | 2023 State WA , showing a strong swing to the corners, and the ability to adjust to out-of-system sets. There is some variety in her shot selection, including a strong tip she slams down the line. Her passing in the middle back is solid, and that allowed Marble to crush on time sets versus Colfax in the final.
Isabella Colombo
Isabella Colombo
Colombo is a skilled setter with good foot speed and a determination to get to every pass. She moves the ball around to her hitters and is willing to backset and run a quick tempo. Excellent serving and defense make her a complete player. Her use of the quick 3 to her middles and a shoot set to the outside is not typical for the 1B level, she showed an advanced set selection and buttery smooth hands.
Swan is a prototypical opposite, with a smooth left-handed swing and good height for the position that let her put up a strong block against the excellent attackers she faced at the SunDome. When given the opportunity Swan can crank up the heat, but she does a nice job on tough sets as well, smartly playing the ball with two hands and making the defense work. Colfax returns 11 players, including setter/attacker Lauren York and middle Brynn McGaughy. The Bulldogs are a strong title contender heading into 2023.
Brieyn Henley
Brieyn Henley
The Nighthawks have been on an unbelievable tear through the 1B class, and it’s been a complete team effort every year. Henley has good size, is athletic and strong, and shows nice hands playing at the net and in defense as an outside hitter. Oakesdale used her in middle back in serve receive, and she was steady- helping set up attackers like Gianna Anderson and Payton Davis Payton Davis 5’10” | OH Oakesdale | 2024 State WA . Attacking she has a heavy line shot that defenders struggle to dig. Just like all her teammates, she can step in and set a ball accurately and error-free when called upon.
Payton Torrey
Payton Torrey
The senior star did everything she could to get the Vikings past Oakesdale in the championship, pushing her team to a near victory in the third set. An explosive player, it was tough to get going early as the Nighthawks opened up big early leads with pinpoint serving and eventually won the match 3-0. Torrey attacked from both pins and the back row, scoring when in system against a determined defense. When Mossyrock did go on a scoring run, it was behind her tough, deep serving.
