With any update comes some big jumps in the rankings for a handful of players.
Here’s a look at seven players that made notable climbs from their previous ranking in this latest release.
18. Kiley Gallagher Kiley Gallagher 5'5" | DS/L Clarkston | 2024 State MI , DS/L Clarkston/Legacy
Gallagher really came on strong throughout the 2022 prep season and was playing her best during the Wolves’ postseason push. The junior climbed nine spots in our latest rankings, from No. 27 to No. 18. She had over 500 digs on the season and was simply not letting the ball touch the floor during the 2022 postseason. A well-coached defender, Gallagher also has the drive and athleticism to be elite.
22. Carissa Musta Carissa Musta 6'3" | MB Cadillac | 2024 State MI , MB Cadillac
Musta got a chance to shine on the big stage of Kellogg Arena this fall and she didn’t disappoint. The 6’3” middle showed she’s a lot more than just a long frame. She showcased great athleticism and a lot of persistence at the net. This season, Musta was dominant for Cadillac with 505 kills (.341) and 189 blocks. She tallied kills and 16 blocks in the two matches at Battle Creek. With 432 career blocks, she’s likely to finish near the top of the MHSAA record books when she’s done. Musta moved up 12 spots from No. 34 to No. 22 in these rankings.
25. Sophie Crawford Sophie Crawford 6'1" | S Gull Lake | 2024 State MI , S Gull Lake/Dead Frog
Crawford is one of a run of setters to make some big moves. She jumped from No. 31 to No. 25 in our latest rankings. She put up a career-high in assists this fall with 879 and is approaching 2,000 for her career. The 6’1” Crawford really improved on her blocking this year as well, tallying 73 while also scoring 232 kills and hitting .340. She’s a multi-threat player that has a high ceiling.
26. Emery Kuebler Emery Kuebler 5'7" | S Clarkston | 2024 State MI , S Clarkston/Legacy
Kuebler was nearly our biggest jumper, as the setter moved from No. 60 to No. 26 in our latest rankings. She ran the Clarkston offense very smoothly in the fall, recording 1,104 assists to go along with 282 digs. Kuebler already has 2,475 assists in her high school career and is well on her way to 3,000. She spread the ball out well for Clarkston and helped elevate her hitters to another level come the postseason.
27. Taylor Smith Taylor Smith 6'1" | S Pewamo Westphalia | 2024 State MI , S Pewamo-Westphalia/Five:1
The P-W setter made the biggest jump of all, moving 35 spots from No. 62 to No. 27. The 6’1” setter played with a lot of athleticism and was very smooth in her execution. In P-W’s two wins at Battle Creek in the Division 3 finals, Smith led the Pirates with 62 assists while the team hit close to .300 collectively. She also had a big impact as a hitter with 15 combined kills to go with 20 digs and a pair of blocks. Smith is a name to watch, as it won’t be surprising to see her make a big jump up again.
33. Clara Gyomory Clara Gyomory 5'10" | RS North Branch | 2024 State MI , OH North Branch/Michigan Elite
Another breakout star of the 2022 prep season, Gyomory was North Branch’s secret weapon this fall. She worked hard during club season to elevate her hitting and it showed the last four months. She surpassed her career-high in kills by more than 100 this season with 354. Perhaps even more impressive is that she hit .320 while doing it. Gyomory added 64 blocks as well. A great delivery on her swing led to a lot of highlight-reel kills this fall. For that, Gyomory jumped from No. 63 to No. 33.
46. Olivia Behen Olivia Behen 5'5" | DS/L Saline | 2024 State MI , DS/L Saline/L2
Behen was an integral part of Saline’s run to the Division 1 semifinals this fall. While the Hornets had a lot of offensive weapons, Behen’s tireless play on defense allowed Saline to stay in-system. During the fall season, Behen put up 567 digs for Saline and also added 58 aces. Her play earned her a spot at No. 46, a big climb from No. 71.
